    SD/MMC slot

    Hello, this might be a stupid question but:
    - I hav a Gigabyte Laptop,& there is a 'slot' But from which I am not able to identify if it is a 'SD slot or a MMC slot'.
    ( Same thing for the PCMCIA slot / Express slot. )

    -> But more urgently, I first need some advice (if there exists some way) on identifying whether I hav a 'SD slot' or a 'MMC slot'.

    (P.S: I don't hav any SD / MMC cards - I hav simply a microSD in my mobile phone)

    But I read somewhere that a MMC card can be inserted into a MMC/SD slot, but however a SD card won't fit into a MMC slot.

    Devices with SD slots can use the thinner MMCs, but the standard SD cards will not fit into the thinner MMC slots.

    Most SD cards are physically thicker than MMCs. SD cards generally measure 32 mm × 24 mm × 2.1 mm, but can be as thin as 1.4 mm, just like MMCs (see below).

    i dont know what they were smoking but mmc and sd cards are the same size and all fit into a card reader..
    for example, my camera which specifies to uses SD cards can also take and use the MMC Cards properly

    edit:

    and look what is says under the picture

    Yeah -but they say MMC R thinner - that's why ur SD slot may also accept MMC.

    There something written besides my slot - I just taken a Big Magnifier to read it:

    -m- SD (That 'SD' is like the SD logo) (That 'm' before is strange)

    MULTIMEDIACARD (This line probably means 'MMC' & that's damnly small)

    :confused: Why did they had to write this that's small !!
    (I'll assume) All this probably means: That it is a SD slot

    lol does m mean mircro or mini?
    MMC does MultiMediaCard

    mine says MMC/SD/MS/PRO
    so i guess they got lazy and put M for MMC and added the SD
