Has anyone had any experience with the Waterfield Sleevecase from SF bags?

    http://www.sfbags.com/products/sleevecases/sleevecases.htm

I'm looking for a sleeve for an HP NX8220 (14.0" x 10.2" x ~1.4"). I'll be using the sleeve primarily to protect the notebook when I'm carrying it in my messenger bag.

What I like about the sleeve is that it has an open top without a full flap, making it possible to take the notebook out of my bag without having to take the sleeve out all the time.

Any reviews on these sleeves or suggestions on alternative solutions are welcome.

I haven't gotten one, but I've read some reviews about them and they seem to be mostly positive. My complaint about them is that they are a little bit too expensive if you get the extras, but I have a monster of a laptop too. You might look at booq. They have some good sleeves also.

They are well built and stiff ,so offer protection against knocks and bumps.

I have their SleeveCase that I use with my Acer Aspire 2000. I actually got the bundle that includes the messenger bag, sleeve case and storage bag. You are right about not having to take the sleeve case out of the messenger bag. Most of the time I just open the velcro flap and just pull out the notebook. I usually have to pull the sleeve case out when I have my messenger bag fully loaded (laptop, external hard drive, cables, wireless mouse, 2 sets of headphones, digital camera, etc.) You won't be disappointed with any Waterfield Design products. Craftsmanship is outstanding. A little pricey but high quality.

I'm just dying to pull the trigger on this purchase, but living in Canada is holding me back. The cost of shipping north of the border is twice that of shipping within the US! The mention of brokerage fees on international orders scares me as well, as I had a terrible experience with cross-border shipping (via UPS) which taxed me quite a hefty brokerage fee.

I'll be moving to the US in a couple of months, so I can save on the shipping there; however, I don't want to risk damaging my laptop when I travel.

Are there any Canadians that have dealt with www.sfbags.com? What was your experience like?

You might want to just call them and see what experience they have with shipping to Canada. I had originally just bought the sleeve case and later decided I wanted the bundle. They deducted the price I already paid for the sleeve case from the bundle price and mistakenly sent me another sleeve case. I called them to let them know and they sent me an empty box prepaid to ship them back the sleeve case that was sent by mistake.
