    Hello guys,

I bought a nice, compact SIM card reader on ebay, but I can't really install it! I hope someone here can help me.

    Here it is:

It is a MicroSD reader + SIM card reader, but what's more important to me is the SIM reader function.

When I insert the device, it installs itself as Removable Storage and works perfectly fine as MicroSD reader.

It however does not install any drivers for the SIM reader. It came with a broken CD, I asked for the software (+ drivers) but I was only sent a program which is supposed to operate the SIM card (read out messages, etc.) It can not find a proper device though. I tried SIM-Spy and PDUSpy which I actually need - they don't recognize a SIM-Card reader attached.

There is also no COM port created in Device Manager, as it should be I think... neither an "unknown device"...

Does anyone know how to install/use it??

    Any help appreciated!

P.s. I don't care about the 3 euros, but I like how it looks and I don't need a all-in-one card reader with 15 slots for 15€ ... All I need is a simple SIM card reader which is stylish like this one. I hope I can get it to work! :-/

You need the drivers for your specific brand to make it work.Unfortunately there are no generic win7 drivers for a SIM reader. Can't they send you the contents of the broken CD through e-mail?What I would also do is use the drivers of a couple other brands(the net is full of them)hoping that some may work(it can't hurt). If all fails hey for $3 I would buy another one making sure it has the drivers this time around.

    1. I tested it on Win XP as well (one real and one virtual) - no success

    2. They sent me A "content", which was just a program... no drivers. According to them, that is the complete content... It would be great if anyone here has the same device with CD!?

    3. Will try that but how do you install drivers to something that is not recognized as an unknow device!? As I said it does install automatically as a Removable Media (MicroSD card reader) and works perfectly fine as such... but I can't get the SIM reader to work...

    4. The last I care about is the money! I just love how this one looks! The only other SIM reader that is simple, compact and nice looking costs 30 euros... the rest look really crappy or/and are big and useless to me. I don't need a 15 in 1 card-reader - I have all the card readers I need integrated in my laptop... all I need is a simple, preferrably black SIM reader.
