i did a lot of searching on here as well as online about the STM Loop Large.

Most people who purchase this backpack are users with 17" notebooks. The STM Loop Small is only fit up to a 13" and their other backpacks don't appeal to me

Has any 15.4" widescreen user used this bag that was intended for 17" laptops, and do you think it will be secure enough for a slightly smaller laptop (15.4")?

Thanks for any input. The cheapest I have found it to be is $79.99 on amazon.com. I may apply for credit just to get a discount off it...lol

One posting is quite enough. Please don't double post.

I would recommend getting yourself a Northface backpack, they are padded for a laptop and very durable.

I don't have any experience with using a STM large with a 15.4 notebook, but I have a STM medium alley messenger bag for my 14.1" thinkpad T40 and a friend of mine has a STM backpack as well. I have to say, they really are one of the best quality bags I've used and well worth the price!

I have a medium loft (I think...?) messenger bag and it fits my macbook pro 15.4" like a custom fit. But the macbook pro's one of the most compact 15inch laptops out there. I'd say check out the dimensions of your computer first and buy accordingly.

It's probably better to go to your computer manufacturer's site, see what kind of cases they sell or recommend, and then get it on amazon.

i have checked out other makes, models, and tried em in store too but it seems the STM really is the best out there for me, so im dead set on getting it

again, my main question, aiming for the 17" laptop fellas who already have this bag, is if they feel it will still be good enough for a 15.4 widescreen which is smaller in every dimension then a 17"...

I think the STM products are meant for Apple laptops, but it you should be able to fit your 15.4" notebook in a bag that big. (Built for 17") If you're not happy with that fit (as in, it's not secure enough) you could always stuff foam, or get an extra case that would thicken up your laptop/decrease the size of the laptop compartment.

yea, i am just worried about the fit. i understand it wont fit like a glove as it is made for up to 17" laptops, but i also hope the padding will be enough for my 15.4"

i guess since no one with a 15.4 has one or wont chime in, i'll take the hit and give it a try!
