I've narrowed the possible laptop coolers for my incoming Sager NP9170 to the CM notepal U3 and the NZXT Cryo LX.

Anyone have any experience with that model of notebook and these 2 coolers? I suppose looking at their design it's a test between raw power and precision.

Whichever one I decide on, I'll also be looking into modding (Upgrading fans, adapters etc) I don't care for the extra usb ports, but if I can mod these coolers without frying/burning the usb function out that'd be pretty cool.

Please share your experiences, looking forward to hearing from all of you! :D

I too narrowed my options down to the U3 and Cryo LX, and ended up going with the Cryo LX. After using it for a few days, I'm considering returning it to Amazon for a refund and picking up the CM U3 instead. The original fans that came with the Cryo were complete garbage, barely moving any air at all at full speed. I swapped the fans out with Scythe 130CFM fans and there's still very little change in my temps, there's just too much resistance to airflow on both the left and right sides (probably because this thing was designed to look good first, cool second). For $60, I expected to see atleast 5C drops overall and have a nice looking cooler at the same time.
