a screen protector shouldn't be neccesary, i have a dv4 and it has no probs. for a cleaner, damp a microfiber cloth, rub it, and buff it with anotehr microfiber cloth.

no, the dv series have no problem w/ keys or anything scuffing the screen

cumbaya19, for screen cleaning, get a 3M Scotch Brite Hi-Tech Cleaning Cloth (on eBay), it can be used dry or you can wet it a little with either water or rubbing alcohol if you like. Yes, rubbing alcohol can be used on the screen, it is recommended by my Lenovo manual. But don't use it on other laptop areas though, because it may distort the paint if it's painted. And for screen protector, all these years I've never used one on my laptops. As long as you keep the screen closed when it needs to be closed, you shouldn't have any problems. -
I use Klear Screen.

this also seems like a viable option for a screen protector

If my screen is really dirty, I use either some sort of spectacle or disk cleaner, a bit like what moInSTL mentioned, but usually some company will give away a free sample or something that seems to last for ever.
For every day dust and stuff I use http://www.homeandgardengifts.co.uk...ing-Car-Computer-Screen-Cleaner-10200185.aspx lol
EDIT: If you decide to use a screen protector, make sure you've really got all the dust e.t.c. off before you first put it on. -
i guess I'll go to office max and find a cleaner/cloth
