I did search existing threads but didn't get far so decided to create a new one
I am sick & tired of the dust & water/coke droplets sticking to my laptop screen....
Would putting a screen protector help?
DO screen protectors reduce the display clarity?
In short, does it make sense to put one?
-
In your case I would say it makes sense. You can always take off the screen protector and clean it vs doing it to the laptop. My personal opinion is that they don't reduce clarity but have to be cleaned spotlessly often. They are like a pair of glasses in the sense that If they are dirty you see dirty even though your eye is not dirty.

I say buy a nice microfiber cloth and some fancy screen cleaner instead.
-
All protects Iv used add a yellow tint to the screen. As I do graphics, I always tend to under-use yellow with it on. I just use a dry microfiber cloth every week to clean it.

Thanks guys, I'll just try using a film for starters
Like I said, I am really lazy to do a careful cleaning of the laptop scree,
with the screen protector on, I can do a quick and dirty job of cleaning it since I wouldn't have to worry too much bout damahging the LCD -
Twenty-seven bucks!? Just quit using your notebook as a food tray!
j/k let us know how you like it if you splurge. -
I think another advantage adding screen protector to matte LCD will make your matte screen as glossy.
-
I have bought some in the past. Just make sure you get quality stuff ($27 sounds okay) as the cheap ones will not be as clear, but the big issue is that you need to watch for the adhesive used for easy removal.

Can anyone recommend a protector that will make a glossy screen into matte? I having a hard time with the glare and reflection on mine.
Any help here would be welcome. -
I use these screens....

This guy will custom cut for you & knows a lot about the various screens around. AS for the quality, I think they are better than Martin Fields protectors (which were by far the highest quality I had previously used for ipods etc).
I went for the protector with the highest clarity...I'm using it on a 1920x1200 17 inch laptop screen (asus w2p). It is absolutely optically clear....was very easy to install.
Elliot108nl...They have matte films for glare reduction -
4 attempts to put the protector on my PSP. For a laptop screen, even a ultraportable 10-11" screen, I would imagine to be a nightmare
Good luck to you if you can keep dust long enough off it to apply a protector. Best get yourself to a nice, well air-conditioned office
Saying that, people seem to say easy to apply on laptop screen? -
Excellent jasfra!!!
Thank you so much.
I just could NOT find anything suitable on the web - I knew this forum would help out!! -
Jasfra, you rule!
I had the same problem, couldn't find anything good on the web. This site is the only one I've found that makes me feel like I can consider ordering a laptop with a glossy screen. This frees up some options for me with the Compal IFL90.
Anyone else use Photodon? It would be good to hear some additional opinions. -
I used invisibleshield on my lenovo X60Tablet. The reason is that if you use the tablet pen, after a while the dirt might form a hard residue at the pen tip and you will scratch the screen.
Before applicaiton, i had to be very careful to use the proper clothes and solution to clean the screen, almost daily,
After application, i use water and sandpaper if i want to (ha ha).....
Google invisibleshield and X60 Tablet and you would find my blog, it WAS a bit of difficulty keeping the dust off during applicaiton, but everything works out fine.
Screen Protector...should or shouldn't
