...First, back story.
In the Begining...there was a light...weight Compaq Presario X1000. And, In it existed a 4200 rpm...soul. For a time, things where good . But the user secretly yearned for more...um...soul. So on his travels through out the lands, he happend opon a deal he could not better. "$179(US) for a 5400 rpm 100Gb 2.5 notebook drive? Sweet dude! everyone else wants that for an 80Gb. I'm In!" And So, giving the shopkeeper most of his hard earned bag of beans, he left to replace his old soul with that of a new one.
Ok...so pulling the old drive was a snap. backed up all my music, movies and.....Mmm...'Art' to a external drive. Placed the new drive in the drive slot. Check. OEM Xp disk in optical drive. Check. Reboot. Check.
"No Harddisk found..." [:0]
Oh Yea...so there's this stupid plastic connector thing on the old drive I forgot to put on the new drive. Once on, My baby was up and running...but? Whats this? She's so...Quiet! WOW! I could live with that.
Avalable drive space : 93.16
Um...that kind of sucks. Almost a Gig of space lost in...space!
Ok, well the increased speed will makeup for....
I have yet to see this 'increase'. yea, the boot-up is like .1 seconds faster, but nothing to write home about. Well, I got It mostly to deal with video encoding better and more on-board space. This is only my second day with it installed so who knows. It could 'reject' it![B)]

"Bought this drive over Thangiving. Cloning old drive on this one was a snap with Apricorn's external case and software. The Seagate drive installed on my Compaq Presario 2600 without any problems. Capacity is awesome since the notebook is my only computer. Speed is usual, no subjective improvement over the old momentus 40 GB 5400 rpm drive."
