I think seagate produce less noise. and they have command queing (not sure if western digital offers that too now!)
If you go with seagate I think their newest line has the designation 7200.8 (older one is .7)
but I have to admit WD have been good to me for the past 5 years ... never had a failure -

(IF) the price is the same, Seagate all the way dude........ why? because it is known as more reliable and less noise... I got one(seagate) and it's really quiet compared to the other one(WD) but that maybe because it's old.. but I guess I liked seagate a bit more after that maybe because personal opinion or maybe it is better.. I see it like HOnda and Accura xP

I have the Seagate 160GB internal drive. It is VERY quiet. Seagate 160GB internal drives are on sale from 8/7 - 8/13 at CompUSA for $39.99 after mail-in rebates!
