I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good messenger style laptop bag that is also "checkpoint/security" friendly.
So far, I can only find 2 brands that offer this type of bag - Case Logic and Targus. Are these my only 2 options or am I missing others?![]()
TIA~![]()

Are a couple of examples. Googling the major manufacturers listed in the bag buying guide along with TSA should bring up more results. -
Here are a few links I found for yah!
Mobile Edge makes some nice ones, you can check their site...and if interested do a goodle search for cheaper prices (like Amazon, etc)

Here is a link from ebags.com with a page full of *check point friendly bags*

You can also refine your search, on left side of the page by brand, pricing, etc.
Hope that helps!

Ah... thanks guys! Cin, wanted to rep you but it says I needed to spread some rep before repping you again

Let me know which one you went with!

You are one of those lazy ones hey?
But I suppose it is abit of an effort to have to take your shoes, belt, jacket, phone, keys, out and also your notebook. hehe I am in the bag hunt too as mine is pretty much falling apart. I generally just shove everything fro my pockets into the bag whiles removing the notebook from the compartment.

I'm debating if the Tom Bihn Checkpoint Flyer is really worth $220.... It doesn't come with a shoulder strap so I'll have to get that for an extra $30
. It sure looks durable (1050 denier ballistic nylon) and they have a 13" size which is a better fit for my 12" laptop. All the other brands are 15" and I'm afraid the extra space gives the laptop more room to bounce around. Another plus (at least for me) is that the bag is made in USA
-
But it does get annoying sometimes (especially when I have a 6am flight or when I'm extremely jet-lagged). I remember stopping by the checkpoint at Japan's Narita airport and they had to physically turn on my laptop to check if it's realIt's SO annoying since they immediately said I can put it away after 2 seconds of booting and expected me to do a hard shut down to keep the line moving
-
Oh the joy of air travel...
I am just looking for a durable messenger bag with a fairly decent capacity. Preferably with a build in sleeve. Durability is the main problem.
-
That's why I'm strongly considering the Tom Bihn bag..... but at $220, it's kinda hard to swallow
-
Thats 950cu in, my existing one is 1098 and I am looking for one thats around 1500cu in...
-
Wow~ that's going to be a monster!
-
>=D I stuffed 9.4Kg into that 1098cu in. Imagine the possibilities with the 1500......wuahha.
Ok sorry back on topic. To be honest I think those security friendly bags are fairly over priced purely to cater for the lazy-ness.

By the way, I took the plunge on the Tom Bihn Checkpoint Flyer. I hope the $258 is going to be worth it!Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
Great choice on the Bihn bag!!! I have been looking at getting a Bihn for the last 2 weeks but since you aren't able to see Tom Bihns in a store, I procrastinated -- I did see a Briggs & Riley while out today // and bought it. You really can't go wrong with a Bihn bag!!
-
That's looks, and should be a very nice bag for your lappy!Tom Bihn's have a great reputation!
Be sure to let us know once you receive it, how your lappy packs in the bag!

Yeah, apparently they only have one store in the US (Seattle), but I'm quite used to purchasing things online. I've contacted them through e-mail and their customer service is extremely fast and professional. We were able to exchange a multiple e-mails within a couple hours -
Haha... EB works better, but David (my real name) works too
There's a few bag reviews lurking around NBR, but none for the Checkpoint Flyer; so I may do a little review once I receive it and have taken it out for a test run at the airport -
David sounds better anyways!
Yes, I agree you need to do a review on that Checkpoint Flyer, after you receive it and have gotten to know it a bit!

I guess you can call me anything you want as long as it begins with a "D" and ends with a "avid"j/k.... David, EB, emp, emporium, etc etc is all good
-
hee hee.
David works good for me!
When is the expected arrival of the Tom Bihn?
Cin -
They're shipping from Seattle, and I'm on the other side of the continent (Boston)
-
Yeah...Seattle <<<<<< to Boston >>>>>>>>> And, you will get a tracking number, so at least you will be able to track it!
A bit of distance! LOL
