    Is it possible for my Sony Vaio SZ to have a cable to connect to my TV so the TV screen can show my notebook screen? And no I don't mean the kind of new TVs which have hdmi or such, but the TV which only has the yellow red white port. :confused:

    Thanks.

    there are vga adapter cables that break out to S video as well as rca if you arent equipped with S-video as well.

    Seems like all 3 of the major video brands (ATI, Intel, nVidia) all make it pretty easy to do the output these days instead of having to fiddle with the right resolution, refresh, etc manually. These days most drivers will auto detect you connecting to a tv and change the output settings automaticly to suit them, with usually an option to turn off, mirror, or extend your laptop display as well. If not done automaticly, its usually as easy as just manually setting a tv mode and switching output to that port somewhere in the driver.

    Thank you for the replies. :)

    My notebook doesn't have HDMI. I think my notebook (SZ440) only has VGA. What is S-Video? I don't think my notebook has it too. :( Does that mean I have to look for VGA to RCA? Is RCA that 3 port on TV which is red, yellow and white? I am confused with all the terms. :confused:

    Hi, sorry to hijack this thread but I was searching for the exact same thing as KarenA is looking for. I have a XPS 1530 and a S-Video port. I need a S-video to RCA cable for sure. But how many rca's should be there? 2 or 3? In the manual it is mentioned that use a 3.5 mm connector to connect your laptop earphone slot to the TV slot.

    @mainak:
    the svideo adapter will only output to one rca plug (yellow) since its a video only connection. the manual is correct in that youll need a seperate 3.5mm audio jack to rca adapter. that will probably have two rca plugs (white and red) assuming the headphone side of the cable will be stereo not mono.
    this is exactly what you're looking for, and will provide both functions with a single cable:
    http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10207&cs_id=1020704&p_id=2844&seq=1&format=2
    although youll need a short extension cable for either the svideo or headphone side, since they arent that close together on the m1530

    @KarenA:
    since you only have VGA, youll need a sort of breakout box in order to convert it to s-video. this is because the change in resolutions requires the signal to be manipulated in order to minimize cropping or stretching. obviously this is going to cost a lot more than just a single cable. here's one i found online:

    you could probably find one cheaper, that was just a quick search on google.
