Well the time has come i have decided between these two and will make my purchase by the end of the month so which one would you guys take?

They are actually a lot similar then people give them credit for.

    $70 for Orochi and $60 for X8

Similar Button layout. They each have there own advantage. The X8 has the left and right scroll scroll wheel action, while the Orochi has some extra buttons on the sides.

Thank you to whoever added the poll

Yeah Bluetrack looks good. A lot of people said its the next big thing but many people claim its just a gimmick its hard to know for sure but i believe it is good.

I'd go for the Orochi. If your laptop has Bluetooth, it's an excellent notebook mouse, and when plugged in via USB it's an awesome high-performance laser mouse.

You may want to look into a $20 internal Bluetooth card if you get the Orochi, then; without Bluetooth you will have to use the Orochi in wired mode all the time.

Is there a way for you to try it out at Best Buy or smth? Everyone's perception and needs are different, it's really up to you to try it out and see if you like it out.

Best Buy usually only has the Mamba and DeathAdder or Lachesis on display, judging by the four locations around me that I visit.

lolz, my vote goes for the razer, best quality mouse EVA!!!

the X8 is really nice spec wise, but i dont like the ergonomics, my friend in china had it, and i was debating that vs mamba. the design of mamba/DA is MUCH better ergonomically for right handers.

Hm, i have considered this but to me it is too much work to install the bluetooth lol. I mean you have to like take out the monitor and crap .I would change the HDD, RAM, Processor as well. But to me that seems like too much work

Best Buy doesn't have these mouses on display i last went about a month ago and the only thing on display was an N52TE. They had the Mamba in its original packaging which doesn't help at all, lol. It is a huge mouse though.

nothing much to answer your question. Its some type of Dell Optical Mouse. When i was moving, i use to own a Logitech MX518(GREAT mouse might i add) and someone stole it. I could never find it again.

I went to my local Best Buy, and they had it in its original packaging NOT on display. The ONLY thing they had on display was the Belkin N52TE. I thought that was really odd.

I am a right hand so that is good to know. I actually like the placement of the side buttons on the X8 it seems to be really fascinating.

I highly doubt you have to remove the monitor to add a Bluetooth card to your 7811FX.

Here's the 7811FX service manual for disassembly:

    http://support.gateway.com/s/Manuals/Mobile/8512680.pdf

The Bluetooth card should be one of the wireless cards that you can access on the last page of the PDF. It doesn't say anything about removing the display. :/

Wow, that's unusual to say the least. Perhaps Bluetooth isn't one of the wireless cards included in those instructions. Ah well...from the pics on eBay, it doesn't look too difficult.

I think you are right. I searched the document for "bluetooth" and nothing showed up. It should be near the wireless card though....very odd i will have to do some research on the gateway forum thanks a lot.

UGH, the price of the Sidewinder went up to $70.00........(Instead of $59.99) So now its leaning more towards orochi.

THOUGH, i should have mentioned this(Not sure if i did) but whatever i buy here i plan on matching it with a Logitech G13 in the not so distant future.

I think everyone would have fallen in love with the Mamba had Razer worked out more kinks before they officially launched it. Most of the initial bugs were taken care of with a firmware update, but judging by many forums it is not the easiest thing to do (especially if you end up bricking it). It's kind of like when vista launched, but razer only took a few months to release a respectable firmware update.

That's silly. Just download a new copy of the driver for every PC you want to use it on instead of copying the same one over. Besides, you only really need the drivers on one PC, since settings and all that are stored in the mouse's onboard memory. The EULA doesn't mention anything about not using the mouse on multiple machines.

It could easily just be an Australia thing, too.

I gotta say im impressed with the poll results. I was thinking sidewinder would get spanked but that isn't the case.

To all you Razer owners, any problem while gaming?(Buttons not working/registering?)

I use a Sidewinder X8 and love this thing. The wireless mouse works perfectly in game with no noticeable lag, unless the battery is almost dying. The magnetic charging cable saves you anyways if you are found in that situation. The scroll wheel is a notched one, but still rolls smoothly. Button placement is great and the DPI settings with the built-in LED display is a fun addition.

Check out the " Gaming Mice THREAD/Diary", we have talked about some of these mice in there.

Can't say I've used the Orochi, but if it's anything like their other products I've used (two DeathAdders, a Lachesis, eXactMat, and an N52TE Speedpad), then it will be an excellent mouse.

lulz most absurd thing ive ever heard...

and bsbear, you have no rite to even try end this thread, you obviously vouch for anything u have...i wouldnt trust anything he says if he was the last man on earth (still wondering how u cannot afford to buy 40usd fraps yet u BOUGHT 600usd sony vegas)...and ps ur SIG is fail...ive never seen such a stupid comment "Would really like someone to donate to me over paypal, msg me for details. any amount is great." -_- derhhhh ima give some random person monies cuz i have nothing better to do...whoever does that better shoot themselves to donate to an internet stranger vs the thousands of charities available.

also OP, keep in mind the shape of the mouse, not all this tech spec jazz. i suggest u go and try the sidewinder/orochi b4 u buy it. the funny thing about the DA was that it was near the bottom of my list of mice, behind the lachesis, G9 etc. it was only till i used it at my friend's house that i learned of the wonderful world of right-hand ergonomic razer mice. that was what made me buy the mamba, since it was same "perfect" (IMO) design. orochi looks kind of like a small G9 shapewise, its symetrical while the sidewinder is much longer and for larger hands.

Hm, im having some second thoughts now because i have quite a bit of Gift Cards from Amazon im thinking maybe i should just wait for Black Friday. Maybe one these mices will be half off or something.

Oh, and SACH at my Best Buy they didnt have any to test hopefully if i go back i can get a good look. I live by Compusa and i am CERTAIN they will have it on display, maybe i will take a spin tommorrow.

I had an MX518 previously and to me the Sidewinder in size reminds me more of that.

I read somewhere that they were using the same sensor that they used in the Lachesis in the Orochi. I knew someone who got the Lachesis as a gift and loved it, he went off to bootcamp and lent it to me while he was gone. I loved it, never had any problems. It was the first gaming mouse I used. (Tomorrow my Orochi will arrive!)

According to one review, the laser tracking issues were caused by forgetting to take the clear plastic protector off from over the lens. :p

Razer's EULA supposedly only allowing you to use the mouse on one computer . . . nothing prevents you from doing so. Their drivers are straight executables, no license checking or anything like that. Also, them supposedly stating that is kind of ironic considering that the mouse's on-board Synapse memory is designed to store your settings so you can use it on other computers:
    http://www2.razerzone.com/MouseGuide/technology/razer-synapse/34.html
    I'd say it's a non-issue . . .
