They should definitely clear that up i also was thinking about that when i first read the EULA, i remember that they had on board memory to save your profiles "on the go".
Shroom, yeah, that is what one person said.

SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
Not meaning to hijack the thread, but does that carry over to the Microsoft/Razer Habu as well? I was researching it and people were saying you can't even use different USB ports.
-

Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
Wow, different usb ports eh? lol.
Isn't it amazing? So many people own products from companies(not just Razer) and never read the EULA to see what is says. I think its a non issue, because i haven't heard any story yet of anyone that was refused warranty repair. -

Hm, this was a close one.
Does anyone have any inside info on any mouse deals for Black Friday? -

hmm g13? how bout the razer powered Belkin n52te? i heard those were good, and it 30bucks cheaper i believe.
edit: 25bucks cheaper according to amazon. also im not sure that mice will be on sale liek that on black friday, they arent that popular enough to be put on sale...or are they? iuno -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
Hm, well i was just giving a random example of price, if i can get something like a G500 or Sidewinder for $30-$40 then I would beat myself up if i bought right now. I can wait too i don't need it right away.
-
not sure if you can get an X8 for 40bucks, that a bit dramatic but MAYBE with the g500. actually, since ts a new item, im not really sure.
how bout 80USD for a mamba? a forum member is selling rite now! that is the best mouse out tehre rite now. -
I think there's no comparation to be made... the orochi is bluetooth and it's way too small.... it's a mobile mouse, design to be carried around. they are in different classes.
I've tested both and the orochi just doesn't fit in my hand...
I bought the X8 and I'm very happy. I can carry it anywhere and it's a very good full size mouse.
razer mamba is for sure much better. I would prefer one but you can't carry it anywhere... the receiver is way too big and the design makes it impossible to carry it in a backpack... I really love the mouse... but the receiver is just stupid. -
The Orochi is an awesome mouse. It is smaller obviously because it is a mobile mouse, but it is still a good size for a gaming mouse as long as you are a finger tip gamer, and not a claw gamer. I have the Orochi and the G500 and love both. I had a Mamba and while it is a superb wireless mouse, I needed the infinite scroll capability of the Logitech series mice on my desktop, but I do use my Orochi on my G51VX.
Personal opinion on the X8, I don't like the look, but I have never tried it so I can't give a real opinion. -
^ i believe you meant "not a palm gamer", claw grippers are the ones that use their fingertips. but yea the design is the most important in mice, the orochi is kinda small so you needa see if its fits in your hand and feels natural to you.

Your right, I had the names wrong.

So i would expect a big drop.
SACH, that sounds like a good deal. As for the N52 bro i tried at the store and i really wasn't feeling it. Its nice don't get me wrong but they keys shake if you wiggle it. Its not solid like how a keyboards keys are connected. -
Keep in mind the N52 and N52TE are two different things.
N52:
N52TE:
I vouch for the N52TE; it's a very solid keypad, none of the wiggle you're talking about. The keys are perfectly spaced so I don't have to move my hand to press any. Note the more ergonomic angling and layering of the keys on the N52TE, especially in the bottom row. Also, although I can't speak from experience, never having used a regular N52, the hand rest on the N52TE is supposedly of much better material. Plus, the N52TE has Razer's Synapse memory, allowing you to store your customizations and profiles on the device itself rather than forcing you to rely on the configuration software.
Also, the N52TE has backlighting.
For reference, the Logitech G13:
-
yes, i hope you didnt try the N52 normal edition, that is much worse. i went to bestbuy the other day to pickup GTA: episodes from liberty city, and i stopped and saw the G13. OMGZ i never knew it was so big. i really thought it was gonna be 2/3 the size that i saw. anyways, i havent heard of the keys being loose in the N52TE, maybe the display model had wear and tear?
edit: after looking over the G13 and N52TE, i would go for the G13 just because it has MUCH more buttons which seem to be more useful. i havnet tried either, but the G13 has had positive reviews. -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
The thing i like about the G13 though is do you see that "leathery" area? Its to rest your palms, and i heard you can game on it for hours because it is so darn comfortable. -
22 keys on the G13 vs. 15 keys for the N52TE, it's not a huge difference. The N52TE has all the keys I ever use in most FPS games anyway: W, A, S, D, F, E, Q, Z, X, C, R, Tab, Shift, Ctrl, Space, and of course, any of these can be re-mapped to anything else using the Razer configuration software.. I have the D-pad mapped to the arrow keys, which I map certain functions to in-game, and the thumb button to the V key (usually for voice). If you include the D-pad and thumb button, it's got 20 keys/buttons, the G13 would has 25 including its joystick and two thumb button type things.
I demo'd a G13 at a store a while ago, I don't like how the keys angle downwards toward the top row. And the grip isn't quite as awesome as the N52TE.I will grant that it has the GamePanel LCD display, usually found on their G-series full-size keyboards, a pretty nice feature, and the N52TE doesn't have anything like it. Between the extra buttons and the GamePanel, I would say the G13 is more geared towards MMORPG or RTS players than the N52TE, which I perceive as oriented towards FPS players (like me!).
-
hmm, well mainly the reason why i liked G13 is because the left side wehre the CTRL/shift/tab buttons usually are, look more comfortable on thee G13 vs the N52TE. i also dont like the button for jump on the N52TE. whatever tho, i wont be buying any of these soon cuz im fine with my normal kb. but if a G13 V2 releases that fixes minor issues (the joystick seems to be a problem with many), than i mite buy it.

Orochi is pulling away(Though to be honest i thought it would have been a blow out)
Shroom, you are always insightful *Thumbs up* A lot of people i have read that use to joystick, use it to change weapons in the game and not to actually move. I like that its downward, when you hold your hand out your fingers point down so i figured that would be natural position.
SACH, i'm thinking they may make another version(G14?) Before they fix that joystick thing. The problem with the joystick is it is TOO small. If they could find a way to put extra padding they could have a perfect device i also like the fact that you can change it into ANY color:
width='425' height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/C8_FCuGZDmE&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/C8_FCuGZDmE&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width='425' height="344"></embed></object>Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
Yep, I use WASD for movement like always. I have the D-pad bound to different things for different games. For instance, in TF2 I have the 4 D-pad directions bound to build each of the 4 available buildings as an engineer (sentry gun, teleporter entrance and exit, and health/ammo dispenser). So to build one, I just tap the relevant direction the D-pad instead of having to hit 4 to open the building selection menu and then select which building.
I do something similar with the Spy class; I use the 4 directions to disguise as the 4 most common disguises I use (Pyro, Demoman, Medic, and Sniper).
In Left 4 Dead (2), I have it bound to primary weapon, sidearm/melee, throwables (Molotovs, bile jars, pipe bombs), and booster items (pills, adrenaline). I left the medkit/defibrillator to the default binding because I don't need to hotkey it, since you're only supposed to use it when you have a few spare seconds anyway.
In Oblivion, I've got it bound to quick-equip my sword + shield, bow + arrows, and my two most used spells.
So, you get the picture. The D-pad is pretty versatile, and definitely not just for moving. -

Hm, ok.
Have you had any compatibility problems with the N52TE and any games? I know the Logitech hasnt had any known problems thats why im interested in hearing it out.
Yeah a lot of people with the g13 as well do the same thing as well with the joystick. They basically use it for secondary commands. -
There is one game that the G13 does have compatibility issues with and that is Aion. From what I was told this was due to gameguard. I haven't had any problems with the N52TE and Aion. N52TE > GG
I sent Razer support an e-mail in regard to the N52TE and new drivers being released for Windows 7. Well, shortly after I did that they took it off of the list of upcoming drivers. -
If I were you, I would just install the drivers/configuration software on your Vista machine, set up all the keys the way you like, and then don't bother installing the software when you get to Windows 7, because the Razer Synapse memory stores all your profiles and stuff on the N52TE itself.
As for compatibility issues, I've never heard of any and I can't really see why there would be; it's really nothing more than a really small keyboard. -
hmm, shroom for your gaming d-pad setup, can the N52TE actively sense different games and load up profiles for each one? say that i want Tf2 to make the dpad 1-2-3-4, but on a game like cod4/cod6, i want two of buttons to be scroll up/down and the other two as grenade (normally my G button) and special grenade (normally my H button)? is that possible?
-
I honestly don't remember, but you can assign a button to switch between the three profiles, which is what one of my friends does with that thumb button just above the D-pad. I don't know if the software has game recognition, though; I'm on Windows 7 and using my N52TE without the config software, totally plug & play. Works great.
But yes, you can have the D-pad directions set to different keys for different profiles. The N52TE can have three different profiles. You just might have to manually switch profiles, either by using the configuration software, or if you don't have it, by binding some key ahead of time to switch between profiles. -
o ok. whatever tho, honestly if i were to buy it, i would set the dpad to 1-4 keys to make it easier to switch weapons on the fly.
