    No,

No, it must specifically says that it support blue-ray.

blue-ray/hd-dvd drive needs to have blue-laser sensor.
blue-ray/hd-dvd drive usually has two laser sensor, the red laser for standard dvd,cd, or what not, and the blue one for blue-ray and/or hd-dvd.

It has nothing to do with allowing anything. DVD is a red-laser disc, and Blu-Ray uses a blue laser, and blue lasers are more expensive right now which is why the drives are more expensive as well.

    Poster of the day award.

P.S: The bold part is the answer to your question.

Do you even know what Blu-Ray is? I take it you don't considering how you spell it. Just because it has a circular form, it does not make it DVD. Ipso ergo, CDs were circular so a CDRW would not read DVDs.

So, I have read this post through a hundred times, and must humbly confess that I am still confused as to whether or not a DBD drive will or will not read a blew-reigh disk...

Seriously, I just thought I'd attempt some humor...anyone chuckle??? Even a little??? :(

so there arent a bunch of one word posts with people trying to raise their post count. this way it leads to having better quality responses (theoretically).
