Been going nuts trying to find something that will fit my needs. Basically, I'm looking for something with a rigid outer shell, enough to prevent pressure on the back of the screen. The problem is that I need it to be pretty thin, like 3" or thinner. I'll be putting the laptop in there, then putting that inside a large camera bag, so the thinner, the better. I've found 2 that interest me:
1. Ohmetric 30079 Notebook Cooling Platform and Hardshell Case - $25.44

Pretty cool that it doubles as a lap rest, though I can't find any info confirming if both sides are rigid, or only the part where you sit the laptop on.
2. Pelican 1090CC Black 1090-000-186 HardBack Laptop Computer Case - $83.99

Pretty much ideal, except for the price.![]()

Pelican are literally the best ABS cases for electronic/electrical/breakable equipment. I was going to recommend you a Peli case before I'd even opened the thread.
I've never used that particular one, but it will be worth every penny.
& is 80 bucks really that much, if you've got a laptop worth $1000+ ? (note I don't know if you have, but you know what I mean) -
Just got it, and it's super rigid! Comes with 8 memory foam pads, 4 thick and 4 thin, for the top and bottom. The laptop doesn't move at all, and is about 1/2" or so away from the walls of the case from being suspended by the pads, so it's very well protected. It really is airtight, since it takes a little effort to break the seal each time you open it. Very cool, though I wish it had a handle like a briefcase (only has a shoulder strap).

See what I mean about them being worth the money?

Yup, but now I have to put off a Momentus XT till next paycheck.

Better that than breaking the laptop with the Momentus in it whilst you're waiting a month to afford the case though
