Most of the laptop bags I've seen are big and bulky, made for 15.4" or 17" laptops.

Has anyone come across a smaller bag for a 12.1" laptop? A shoulder type bag with a handle would be great.

Specifically, I'd like to fit a Dell D420 laptop and the A/C adapter, plus maybe an iPod and/or WD Passport hard drive -- but not much more.

    Thanks...

    Consider the Samsonite L25.

SFBags (Waterfield Designs) out of San Fransisco makes some of the best bags money can buy. I have three of their sleeves and two of their bags; I ordered a new sleeve to fit my T4220 12.1" tablet PC. Perhaps you would consider getting a sleeve and then putting that in a larger bag/backpack? It's one option.

For a bag, Waterfield has the RacerX:

It's made specifically for 12" notebooks.
You can also get a VertiGo bag:

And there are small Cargo bags:
