Logitech mx518 is a good choice. Don't know how small you mean by small.

Between a mini notebook mouse to mx518/G5, etc. I know the mini mouse is not of gaming quality.

    "Gaming quality"?

Just find a mouse that responds well and is comfortable. They stop calling it a gaming mouse once it loses the lights and cord :p

I don't have any experience with Creative Mice at all, so I would wonder. However, I have the Creative Fat4lity Headset, and it's very good, so I would expect good performance from the same line. Oh Dave. I think "gaming mouse" would be characterized mainly by the high DPI (>800) and the ability to switch it on the fly. Then you have people like me who have computers with 1920x1200, so anything less would feel very slow. xD

Logitech VX, small but not too small. Fits hands well and runs on a single AA cell for about a month.

I am looking for a corded mouse, so the VX is not an option.
I am not familar with the Fat4lity 1010. How does it compare against the mx518/G5 etc?

are the razer mice small enough. they aren't exactly the chunkiest things around. i recomend the diamondback for the price/performance ratio.

Played with some mice at lunch. Down to MX518 or G5. Any suggestions on which one?

I did not get to try that. Any way for me to decide on those three?
I am use to Logitech mice so I was going ot get either the 518 or G5.

G5 all the way. Although it's not, by any means, small. It's by far one of the best received gaming mouse's (?). I've got a G5 and a G7 (wireless) and couldn't be happier with the two. The comfort and on the fly Dpi switching is a great asset in many games, not to mention the custom weight adjustment.

Oh and if you're into BF2142 theres' a G5 combo out the that's only 39.00 with a coupon.

Strip off the BF2142 picture and you've got a sweet Stormtrooper looking G5

VX revolution for sure. Though what qualifies as a gaming mouse for me is well placed buttons and good feet. I have played many hours of CSS and WoW with it and have only moved faster than it could track (which results in it shooting to the ceiling or floor) one time. What sold me were the two thumb buttons and the multi directional scroll wheel. It also has huge feet making it very smooth on most surfaces. It is 800 dpi I think...

VX is all right, but I am looking for a wired mouse.
Which one of the two G5s are to be preferred and is there any effective difference between them, and the 518?

The G5 in basically a new model and an old model, with the difference being the addition of a 7th button on the new model. Besides that it pretty much the same animal.

The 518 has 8 buttons but lacks the 6.4mp Laser of the G5 deferring to traditional optics (5.8mp) resulting in lower DPi sensitivity.

Down to the old G5 versus the 518. Short of DPI considerations, is there any other reason to prefer one over the other?

Nah I found mx518 brand new for 25 bucks on amazon with shipping. Think theres a couple selling for 25 -30 bucks without shipping, still a good deal.

Feel like you misinterpreted my "good deal" not actually meaning a good deal but more of a "cool, that's fine". Splitting hairs with textual interpretations , gotta love it.

    Cheers

u better stand at parade rest when u talk to that NCO. LOL jk. hey between the G5 and the MX518, as far as i know is the DPI. im not sure about polling rate but im pretty sure they are the same. but the higher DPI in the G5 is not worth it unless u have a really high resolution screen. i guess u could go with it if u like to have a really really sensitive mouse, but i really dont think anyone can game with sensitivity that high. oh and SGT Hollywood, r u really in the marines? just curious.

Bit OT, but do you think I'd have the gall to slap on 3 Chevrons with crossed rifles without being able to back it up? Oh by the way, you better not be addressing me while at parade rest, maybe in other services but not our Corps!

80? That sounds like the Army hah, always cutting it short. JK (Long line of family Army service, I'm the Black Sheep). Not Gunnery, but straight E-5 Sgt. (Prior service) although I'd like to keep specific service info in PM.

Yes I thought the advice was good. The mx518 was just cheaper than the G5, or I would have gotten it instead

lol. I've never tried out the fatal1ty mouse myself, but it looks interesting. Personally, I went with a g5 for my notebook.

i just bought a g5 and im about to return it. one of the buttons have already stopped working after a week, and if the cord gets in a little twist your mouse will start jumping
