While the use of logic is commendable, the author of the article is absolutely wrong about this.

I've never really seen the point in items that are labeled as task-specific. It's like calling a can of compressed air "gaming air" (I've actually seen this). The microSD card will do the same thing that all other microSD cards do and it'll work in the same devices that all other cards work in. It's just Sony's way of charging more for something that doesn't normally cost as much.

I think its even more sad that a leading multinational (and arguably once an industry pioneer) like Sony could produce and market such fake crap. Sure that product you linked is more expensive, but nobody has ever heard of that company before. I'd also bet that because of the 'Sony' brandname, unfortunately far more people (fools) will buy into it, compared to the product you linked.

To be perfectly honest I sneakily like it when companies extract large sums of money from status chasing audiophiles so I've no complaints on this one. I agree it is a bit sad that they've done this though, mind you their overpriced memory cards (Vita, formerly PSP Go) are probably the only profitable division of Sony these days.

PS4 is the only reason Sony is still afloat. I won't bat an eye when Sony goes under. They deserve it with stupid stuff like this and all the overpriced proprietary products they've made over the years.

PS4 sales are still not as strong as PS3 in SEA since it can't run pirated games.

Same as Vita that can't run CFWs or 3rd party memory sticks.

Piracy helped the systems to be popular in SEA market, but Sony decided to kill that off too.

Sony is for the most part. so not audiophile. General things to know, except for some Magnolia outlets, no Best Buy nor HH Gregg type store sells audiophile gear. Which is sold through small specialty dealers which as a rule don't sell TV or appliances. NAD, Cambridge, Marantz, Denon, and similar is budget audiophile.

MDR 7506 headphones are one of Sony's finest. Sony's finest amps, tuners, and receivers were their early efforts. Sony Trinitron and later TV sets outstanding. And Sony CD and SACD players great.

Indeed. Sony can and has made amazing gear. Especially, when Akio Morita was alive and on top. Sony's done a little bit of everything through the years.
