I'm taking this away to college with me and I know I'm going to end up forgetting some accessory of some kind. So can you guys suggest things I need/would like to have in addition to my laptop?

So far, here is what I know I need/want.

    - Laptop (Dell Inspiron E1505)
    - Laptop battery ( as well as charger for laptop and all that other good stuff that comes along with purchase of a laptop)
    - 22" Widescreen LCD (thats more of a want than a need, but meh)
    - 50 pack of DVD-r (not sure which media is best in the DVD format, there are so many and they are confusing, help?)
    - surge protector
    - mouse and keyboard (again, I'd love some recommendations.)
    - Laptop backpack (thinking about a Targus, but not sure)
    - TV Tuner (thinking about the Hauppage USB stick)
    - Laptop skin (skinit.com , either a cuban flag, my college's jersey, or the Saints logo)

Can't think of anything else. What else do you guys use with your laptop?

I'd get a (cheap?) sleeve. It will protect it from light scratches and spills. Good for when being bumped in your bag or whatnot :)

Possibly portable speakers and/or headphones. An external mouse is great (I have 2!! :D Both a gaming mouse and VX Rev for office). All depends on your budget of course and preferences. Different shape between brands, wired/wireless

As for DVD+/-, there are subtle differences but tbh you have a laptop which can read both. I wouldn't be concerned about - or + ~ I've used both no problems. Get a decent brand is imo more important. Sony and Verbatim are nice (at a good price!)

Alright, thanks for the info on the DVDs.

I guess I'll have to look into getting a sleeve. Haven't ever looked at those before. I also completely forgot about a good set of headphones. I would get a decent set of speakers, but I'll be living in a dorm with a roommate so I assume a good set of headphones would make more sense.

The only things I'm getting from Dell are the laptop, the monitor, and the battery.

Also, thanks for the recommendations on those two items. I was expecting much more expensive items.
