So i bought the microsoft sidewinder x8 a while ago.. and basically while i am happy with it, i am really looking for a gaming mouse of the same caliber.. same performance but with better ergonomics.
I looked into the razer deathadder which seems like exactly what i am looking for, though online i have seen tons of people saying how easily theirs broke and that they love the mouse so much they are on their 3rd or 4th one already.
I can't be buying mice more than once ever two years.. or longer.
Then i was directed towards logitech but I am looking for a wired mouse and one that is current. It seems like they haven't released a new wired mouse in a long time.
TL;DR
So really, im just wondering if you can give me some suggestions for a wired gaming mouse, for right handers, that has good ergonomics/durability but also comes through with strong performance.
THANKS GUYS!![]()
EDIT: wow.. i just realized the new deathadder doesn't even use a laser or modern sensor.. maybe im crazy but why would someone go for an optical sensor in this modern day?

I have an original DeathAdder 1,800 DPI from 2007 that still looks and functions as well as the day I bought it, as well as a 3,500 DPI DeathAdder refresh that also has had no trouble.
There's nothing wrong with optical sensors. Hell, I prefer them over laser. There is nothing "not modern" about a 3,500 DPI 3.5G optical sensor. Also, fun fact: the original DeathAdder led the gaming mouse race in terms of perfect control speed over any laser mouse for a long time.
As for recommendations, the 3,500 DPI DeathAdder is a nice piece of hardware. You just need to get out of the mindset of "optical = old and bad".
However, I can just tell that some people are going to accuse me of fanboyism, so I will also recommend the Logitech G9/G9x. Good quality, and with three grips to choose from you'll probably find at least one that suits your ergonomics. I had one for about a year before getting my first DeathAdder. -

The Razer Imperator is another choice to consider. 5,600 DPI laser and a comfortable ergonomic shape, and you can adjust the positions of the side buttons.
There are relevant graphs throughout the article. These tests were done using machines to move the mice. Granted, it's from 2007, but nobody's really done such comprehensive testing in the meantime.

It'll need to be recharged using the included usb cable, but if you're a wireless freak like me, invest on a rechargeable battery and you're good to go -
Yet, you still blindly espouse that the DA is awesome and no way could it be a crappy mouse in the hands of probably hundreds of thousands of other gamers. But who am I kidding? I mean hell, you can't even concede the fact that Razer has faults in its marketing and/or product line. Too much of that Razer "special sauce" clouding your mind I wager. -
Geez! You two are still bugging each other over the Deathadder?
Whats it been? A year (or even 2!?!?) now? I better not say which mouse I own. hehe
Anyways, I almost bought the G500 myself as it seemed to be on sale everywhere I live. ($45?) I have never had a Logitech mouse fail on me except for the good ol'MX510 that got squished in a suit case during a trans-Atlantic flight. The issue wasn't too had to correct I suppose. Logitech will be my likely destination when my current mouse fails (if it does). -
Johnny T, I love your Astro-Kee Kat avatar. So cute!

Heh...it's the album cover for the latest album from a band called "Klaxons". The music was abit of a let down, but nice artwork as you can see.

Hmm yeah thanks for all the info guys.
So yeah i own a wireless mouse right now thats supposedly for gaming.. (im a pretty hard core gamer.. or want to be) and its performance is fine it just feels like im holding a large rectangular box in my hand. Thats what made me look into the DA.. i looked at logitech but i really think i want a fully wired mouse this go around because i never use the wireless capability of mine.
I looked at roccat and the one that intrests me is the umm kone, but i can't seem to find anyone selling it around me and their website doesn't even list USA under the where to buy countries. (not to mention it says coming soon for the mouse..)
So yeah, when do companies usually refresh or release new mouses because i might as well get one that is new. -
I've been lazy and not read all of the posts so excuse me if I repeat someone else.
Check out the R.A.T. 7 or 9. I bought a Logitech G9x about a year ago and its awesome (extremely happy, not wanting to change), however the RAT on paper looks extremely good as it can be customized to your hand shape and fell that your looking for.
I would however suggest that you go and have a feel. In the past I've read tons of articles about mice and then gone a completely different direction when I felt them up. The DeathAdder is extremely good but it didn't suite my hand and feel I was looking for. In my experience there are basically two extremes of feel, a "full handed palm", which most of the hand touches and is more of a full hand feel or a "breached palm" that you'll find the mouse floats under the hand and you'll control more from the fingers (I'm about 75% towards 'breached palm'). Your hand size will again change the mouses feel, but think of the DeathAdder as a 'full handed palm' and the G9x as a 'breached palm'. If I remember correctly the sidewinder had more of a 'breached palm" feel.
Hope this helps and excuse my made-up terminology, -
As far as the RAT 7 goes, I'm really not a fan. As was mentioned earlier, on paper the RAT looks terrific, but I'm more concerned with the longevity of the product. There is no sense in throwing good money at a mouse which has more moving parts than the space shuttle. It just means it has more of a chance for something to break/go wrong with extended and/or heavy gaming use.
