I'm having an odd problem. I have an 8 GB Sandisk Cruzer Blade. I was copying some movies to it so i can watch it on my TV, but the weird thing is, i can copy any other file normally at the standard 5-6mbs speed. But when i copy an avi file, the speed rockets to 70-80mps and doesnt even fully copy. It gets stuck in the middle or near the end and I cant even cancel it. Only way to fix this is unplug and replug the drive to stop the copying. Any ideas why this might be happening?

    5-6 sounds really slow. On my Sandisk Cruzer 16gb that's 4 years old I get 20-30 mb/s

I dont know why but the speeds on this thing are all over the place. Sometimes i can copy at around 20, but usually its anywhere between 4-10.

Edit: Formatting fixed it i guess. Still a bit weird though because it will copy a large file at 80 mb/s until its half done. Then i wait like 10 minutes for the other half to finish. I'm guessing its reading the speeds wrong. It probably takes 10 minutes to copy the entire large file at a constant speed.

Sandisk blades are really slow, limited to 4-5mbps. All my other Cruzers are much faster and they are the same capacity.

OP: Try using Teracopy instead instead of the default windows copier.
