Hi, I am looking into getting the dual capacity battery for a 505ECP, and am wondering how safe it is to order off of one of the sites that offers them for half the price of Sony. Are these quality batteries, or are is it possible that they could harm my system? Appreciate any feedback, thanks.

Most people will tell you that it is safer to go with a genuine manufactured product instead of after-market. I would also suggest that. Some after-market batteries are manufactured poorly and could damage your system by not suppyling enough power or leaking; some also don't take as many charges as manufacturers product. Another issue you run into is it's possible that your OS won't be able to provide accurate detail as to how much power is left in your battery. You invested too much in your machine...go with a Sony battery. IF you're not afraid of E-Bay, you may find a genuine Sony battery for slightly less than retail.
