From none to two of these things in the house.
My mother has a 5.1 one and I have the X-Fi go.

    Here's my problem:
When I change my audio track I get a "spike" in voltage and this "odd" noise.
Its annoying - how can I get rid of it?
It didn't occur on the internal card...

    Also:
With 3D sctivated clicking on Windows folders sounds horrid - any way to improve that except switching the 3D surround sound off?

Oh - and how do I stop the card from resetting itself whenever plugged out and in?
(Or was that because I changed USB port? Drive name stayed the same...)

And can I remove the files from the drive??
(By the way - the first point, the annoying sound caused by a little electrical surge is my key problem - I just thought I'd throw the other questions in too)

I have a X-Fi go but I don’t notice a clicking or cracking noise when I change tracks. I tested just now in Winamp and Windows Media Player to make sure before posting. What OS / driver version are you using ?
    Mine :
OS : Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit With SP1
    X-Fi Go: Driver version: 1. 1. 61 , Firmware version: 1. 1. 80613

I also noticed that, however, I don’t use CMSS 3D, because everything sounds strange with it. And takes up CPU cycles (CMSS 3D adds around 8% more in power saver mode and around 3% in performance mode).

What kind of resetting? (maybe it was because you changed the port. Try plugging in to the same port)

I think you can, AFAIK they are there for easy installation, and because it didn’t come with a driver CD. [IMG] Try it at your own risk..

OK -the "resetting is gone by itself"

The "clickign" occurs in the creative media player and in Sonic Stage, it is more pronounced the louder your volume is. Also - you have to actively select a new track.

    Now - Vista Business, SP1 - 32 Bit

    Soundblaster X-Fi Go!
    Driver Version 1. 1. 61
    Firmware Version 1. 1. 80613

    (Also existed before the update)

I'll try moving the files off the drive - I'won't delete them :D I'll just stash them away :D

I know with some sound cards if you have drivers for other sound cards(such as on board ones) then it can mess with their sound. And I've also been told that if its making noises like that then it could be caused by the ground of the power of your laptop. I'd try the drivers first, then the creative software if your using that.

At high volume levels I can hear a very brief clicking sound when changing tracks, but it is barely noticeable since the track is abruptly changed (happens in Creative media player, I think Winamp has a track change fading effect even when changed at the middle). But this doesn't happen when the tracks are changed automatically. I was able to record the track change clicking sound through "what u hear". This is exactly what I hear (click at 8th second). is your click prominent than this?

Thats not that bad, I wouldn't blame that click on the sound card but on the media player. If its the sound card then you'll probably hear it other times like when your clicking through folders or when some one sends you a messesage(like WLM's ding sound and such).

Yes, PhoenixFx - I think its that.
Its more pronounced when changing to a track - and as I mentioned before, more annoying the louder it gets...

About the drivers - I can't unistal my onboard drivers because that mean I can't use the onboard card...
Now when I'm on the train for example or at university that would be unhandy...

    But thanks :)
