Hi guys! I have a quick question. I am considering purchasing the soundblaster 2 ZS PCMCIA card for my laptop, in addition to the altec lansin xt1 speakers; however, I notice the speakers connect via USB. Will I still get the full benefit of the sound card even though I don't connect the speakers directly to it? Thanks for any help.

I think you need to connect your speakers to the PCM sound card. The card comes with a special cable that plugs into it and has mini phone jacks (female) attached to it that you plug in your speakers to (whether you have a 4,5,6 or 7.1 surround sound speakers)

You might be able to buy USB to mini phone jack adapter to connect your speakers to the PCM card.
