    Hi,

I am planning on buying a Dell E1705 Laptop and was wondering if anyone has reccomendations on Speakers. I will mainly use the speakers for gaming (Halo, Battlefield Series, and Oblivion) but also for music. Also, I'd like to know if it is better to get wireless or with a cord.

    Thanks For your Help!

It really depends on what you want to setup. Do you want 5.1 or just 2.1 Are you using the builtin audio or are you buying a sound card to use with it. I have a pair of logitechs, and i have been very impressed with them. I would reccomend that you look at the logitech lineup, they make good products and they are reasonably priced, and logitech has a good reputation.

I've been using Klipsch Promedia 2.1 for years. It's a great system, especially for notebook.

What is the difference between 2.1 and 5.1? And if you attach outside speakers, do you need a special sound card? Thnaks

I have the Logitech Z3e, They are good enough for my computer sound, I have the surround system for games, moveis, and all that.

2.1 means you have Stereo sound, that is a right channel, a left channel, and a sub. 5.1 is surround sound. You have right, left, rear right, rear left, center, and a sub. You don't need a special sound card, you should be able to use the built in one, to get more advancede features, sometimes be better for sound.

a thing to note, with the 5.1. it can really be difficult to place the speakers so that you get the full surround sound. If you have the space, then it might be worth it. Otherwise, your fine with just 2.1 (2 stereo satalites and 1 sub)

the z2300 is the newer version comparable to the z3e with 40 watt satallites and a 120 watt sub. It's also THX certified.

If you can afford the ProMedia or the z2300 you won't need any other recommemdations. They are the best.

BTW...I don't own or use either set. They're still the best.
