I am looking for ether a 2.1 system with a sub or a 5.1 system. The only problem is i cant find anywhere whether the dv5t can put out 5.1 surround. So far i am looking at these setups.
I would like to keep it as cheap as possible but also want good sound.
2.1 system - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836121122
5.1 system - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836121012
Any other suggestions would be a big help.
Thanks

i was thinking of purchasing that 2.1 but i think that sub is way to big for my needs of a tiny *** dorm room. I have read a lot of reviews and most love those but be prepared for the bass.

You can get 5.1 sound out of the dv5t by using the HDMI port, though I don't know any speaker systems that have an HDMI port . . .
I highly recommend the Z-2300 speakers though. They have powerful, good sound quality and great bass. I have owned mine for over two years, and would absolutely buy them again if I was in the market. -
thanks guys, I will be getting the z2300s.

Theres also the Logitech Z-4 to consider if your on a budget.

What are good 2.1 speakers for the dv5t if you're on a budget-budget, like perhaps $30 or less? Or are there no speakers worth getting in that price range?
EDIT: By the way, are the Logitech X-230's no longer in production? I read a bit about them but I can't seem to find them in stock anymore.
If the X-230's are discontinued, do you know any speakers that are similar to them in both sound quality and price range?
EDIT: Hmmm, on Newegg, the Logitech S-220's seem like they get good reviews. Anyone know anything about them? Only $21
EDIT: Hmmm, or what about the Logitech X-210's? -
Anyone there?
-
I would probably go for the s-220's. It looks pretty simular to the x-240 but the x-240 has a little more power. The reviews seem to favor s-220's maybe its cause theyre cheaper.

Any more opinions?
-
I don't know if you've ordered yet or not, but check Amazon for pricing. When they're in stock by Amazon, they usually sell around $77 with free shipping and no tax.
EDIT: Right now they're $78.17 on Amazon with free shipping and no tax -
So it seems like the X-230s are discontinued, the S-220s are pretty good, and no one has any opinions on the X-210s?
And should I start my own thread for this? This is also in regards to a cheap 2.1 system for the HP dv5t, but I feel as if I'm hijacking his thread. -

These powered monitors have gotten a lot of hype lately in the "computer as source" forum on head-fi.com -- see http://audioengineusa.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=79
