    Hello everyone,
im about to order an alienware m14x and am hoping to pick up some speakers with it as well off of Dell, curious what speakers would you recommend based on your experience with them? The ones ive been looking at and researching most have been the Logitech z506 5.1, but it would be nice to have the input from people who own them or have used them, as well as others.

    thanks for any help!

I own the Logitech z506 5.1 Surround Sound System. I use it for my M18x R2, it's amazing. For the price ($80), it's a steal. Go for it. The only complaint I have is that sometimes the subwoofer makes a buzzing noise when the volume is up, as if it's loose or something, but it's not really that noticeable.

I usually wouldn't recommend going for cheap 5.1+ setups, you usually just end up with 5 sub par drivers, a budget sub, and a tangle of wires. A decent 2.0 or 2.1 system would be much better value at the $100 price range as far as sound 'quality' is concerned. As for recommendations, the best option on the Dell website would be the Bose Companion 2 Series II. If you are willing to buy from outside of Dell, you might want to look into building your own budget system. Grab a cheap amp ( LINK) a pair of speakers ( LINK), some speaker cable ( LINK) and you'll have a pretty competent setup for well under 100USD.

yeah basically what NinjaPirate said. I wouldnt go for a cheap 5.1 solution. for under 100$ I recommend the Logitech z523, had those for a while and they were pretty good. I have now upgraded to the z623 (150$) and they are muuuuch better, consider those if you have the money. I have them setup about 2 metres from each other and they do "feel" like a 5.1 system. I can hear exactly where the footsteps are coming from in BF3 :D

If you are lucky you can find the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 set for around $100, but even at $150, it's one of the best computer speakers ever (IMO).

Or better yet, one pair of the newer revisions for $25. Walk in customer bought them for like $100, we bought them for $25 because they didn't sound good. Was a quick fix.

And another pair for $43-$50 which I bought refurbed from cowboom.

These speakers are quite darn good.
