I was just wondering if it is save to put speakers next to your laptop screen. I just bought some small creative 2.1 speakers and didnt want to ruin my screen. I recently messed up my samsung CRT by placing some stereo speakes next to it, the creative ones are significantly smaller....so do I have nothing to worry about? Thanks

You'll be fine. Your laptop doesn't use a CRT and those speakers should be "shielded" anyway.
Did you get them at Fry's? I saw in the ad today they were $20 bucks or thereabouts. -
The magnets in a speaker has no effect on LCD's.

The reason a magnet has an effect on a CRT(Cathode Ray Tube) monitor is because it as a electron gun in the back of it, which shoot electrons into the front part of the monitor which has the lights on it, and it lights up which ever light it hits(thats a really simple way of looking at it) and when you place a magnet near to it then the magnetic field bends the direction of the electrons therefore distorting the picture. Where as a LCD screen doesn't have a electron gun and the electrons(electricity) is sent to each light via a wire.
