    Hi,

After taking advice from a few people I purchased a sound card for my Dell Inspiron 1720 in order to be able to play surround sound through my Logitech z 5450 wireless surround sound system. However, I still can't seem to get surround sound from my laptop to the surround sound system and I've spent over £70. I am looking to decent quality 5.1 surround sound I can from my laptop so that I can watch movies in 5.1. I am outlining all the details below in the hope that someone can please help!

Laptop: Inspiron 1720 (no built in optical out)
Sound card purchased: Creative ExpressCard Sound Blaster X-fi

--- Having realised that this was not 5.1, I had to purchase the following...

Creative 5.1 adapter (4 standard sockets- front (green) , side (grey), c/sub (pink) and rear (black).

My Logitech system has the following: 2 x optical sockets, Coaxial & 6 Channel Direct- 3 sockets front (green) rear (black) sub/ctr. (yellow).

Please can someone advise me how I am best going about getting surround sound from my laptop to my surround sound system and if possible specifically what cable(s) I would need?

    Any help gratfully appreciated!
