I was surfin the Steelseries website today and i saw these. My first impression was that these are a just somthing stupid that someone that doesnt know what to do with their money will buy and say "they help their game".anyways the specs they give about them make them seem like they "work", or are they just a normal pair of Amber tinted sunglasses ? opinion ?

I saw something similar advertised by a company called Gunnar.
It supposedly does help with eyestrain and improves color contrast. The only downside is that they are expensive, and you look like a friggin tool wearing them or explaining to other people why you have them, unless you a professional photographer. -
-
Sad... First they get gaming gloves and now gaming glasses.
What kind of idiot would buy this stuff anyway? -
haha my thoughts also, just thought it was silly. some of the best gamers i know game on a pos computer a cheap mouse. This stuff is definitely not needed, if your eyes get "stressed" and it makes you need these glasses your not a gamer. IMHO

^ good to know, this is a good idea coming from Gunnars side. DO they do any more then an average amber tinted lens ?
-
An alternative is to just get a minimal tint on your glasses. In japan whenever you order glasses they ask if you use a computer and they ask if you want the tint to avoid fatigue.
-
^ thats a goo idea.

Most optometrists offer an amber tint for glasses.
They increase contrast, reduce glare (so what) and apparently the 'blue light' that is commonly associated with disturbing brain activity (and supposedly the reason why prolonged computer use can make sleep difficult afterwards). I don't know. I'm not a doctor.
I think it's a large waste of money to buy those kinds of things. If your monitor is well calibrated (don't set the brightness to "blind" mode that most people keep it at) and the lighting in your room is decent there's very little eye strain.
But remember to always take breaks from the computer. Always focusing on one depth is terrible for your eyesight, and no glasses could fix that.
Keep in mind that MLG-branded products are to gaming what Monster is to computer hardware. They find these little niche markets and exploit the hell out of customers with overly expensive goods. -

I wore my amber tint lens's for a while that I use for mtb riding just to see if it had any effect.
I dont think it really did much. Maybe with older CRT's it was more of a problem having eye fatigue but with LCD and how they refresh I think as long as you have your monitor setup right you should be fine with no eye extras.
I read up on those Gunar glasses a long time ago when they first came out because I was really skeptical that they were any different than a cheap $20 pair of sunglasses and I did find some evidence that it was just a super overpriced gimmick. -
why would you want your screen to look like this:

Gaming glasses... Really?
-
Yup really, it improves your game

lol why was dboogie banned?
-
^lol i am wondering the same thing, a lot of times i see banned accounts (with lots of posts) and their posts seem fine, perhaps they did something against the rules through PM? it's possible..
oh, and i also notice that my post count sometimes goes down, maybe some of my posts go against forum rules too, in which case this forum may be more strict than i realize -
i bought these Glass's Sheadog ones tho i have a 24inch LED screen befor i got the glass's my Eyes goes like blood shot in 1hour or 2 because of the LED screen :< i got the glass's i stay infront of the screen for over 6hours and nothing happens these glass's are really usefull i have to say i dont use them alot when am on a LCD screen i mostly wear them when am on the LED
