Both are the USB versions. Both are 50mm drivers.
The SteelSeries seem to have a bit greater freq range and greater resistance(not sure what the resistance changes).
The Steelseries is on sale at NCIX right now for 69.99 while the Corsair HS1's lowest price has been $75( not close to that right now).
Is the SteelSeries a good headset?

I LOVE my Corsair HS1As (A is the analog version not USB)! It's very comfortable in long periods of usage, has a nice bass reproduction and lengthy cable (I can stretch it to the end my room from the other corner). It's quite retractable too! The sounds are crisp and clear, bass emissions are non-distorted as well.
The microphone as well is clear, concise and has a high range of detecting sounds. Over at Team Fortress 2, voice chatting was superb quality and so was Lord of the Rings online. Recording items with the microphone was a breeze too, and it has a toggle on and off switch. And plus it looks amazing!
However that being, I can't compare it with the Siberia V2 because I don't have one personally. -
I think I'm going to pick up the HS1 USB instead.
It looks like it's more comfortable and is easily stowed, which is a plus since I move a lot.
Also the USB drivers is better than what our laptops manage. -
When you actually get the package, the packaging itself is actually a makeshift cardboard headphone stand haha.
I don't know about the USB drivers though since I have the analog one.
Here's an indepth review of the HS1 if you wanna have a look at it:

Specs often don't mean much in terms of sound quality. If you can't get a pair to try on, I would read online customer reviews to get an idea of what you'll hear.
Also, resistance changes the headset's power output. V = IR; P = VI. Simple! -
I have an older Steelseries Siberia, and without discussing sound quality I have to say that they are really comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. Not only are they lightweight, but the headband design lets them sit really light on your head, without needing to be adjusted. For me, as long as they don't sound terrible, comfort is more important as even the best sounding headphones would be useless if I have to take them off because of discomfort (too sweaty, pinching ears, whatever).
