I have been using this WD 7200RPM my book external hard drive for 6 months, it works fine except this flaw that is quite bothersome, whenever I connect it to my laptop, there will be noise coming from headphone(happens too when i use speakers), the noise may be gone for a little while at times, but it always comes back. This is not a huge issue, but still bothers me to no end.
Anyone experienced the same problem here? Is there any fix for this? Thank you for your input!!

it seems like the cable you might be using may not be grounded, thus causing noise..... have you tried using a different cable for your drive?

Depending on the design of the power plugs in your country you might be able to turn them for 180 degree, which often eliminates grounding noise.

That's electro-magnetic interference: The current running through one wire interfering with that (your headphones) of the other.
