I just bought the microsoft wireless desktop 6000 and when i plugged in the usb receiver, the keyboard works right off the bat and the mouse partly. this is so strange. when i click the mouse or use the mouse wheel it works but when i try to move the mouse the cursor just stays there and doesn't move.

I tried installing the software that came with the cd but when i run autorun, it gives me compatablity issues, and setting compaibility mode the xp or vista it doesn't work.

i then proceeded the download the software from microsoft when an even stranger thing happened. the accept button in the license agreement is off the page and there is no scroll bar to get there and i therefore cannot accept the agreement!

i'm stuck, what do i do?

Basic question: have you reset the connections between the receiver and the mouse and keyboard using the small button on the receiver and also each on the mouse and keyboard?

How about testing them in other system?

About the software which came with the Desktop set or available at MS site, actually you don't have to install them to use the mouse and keyboard basic functionality. I owned several MS Wireless Desktop sets, few Natural Keyboards, Natural 6000 mouse, Presenter 8000, basically they can be used without installing extra driver since the keyboards and mice are HID compliant devices. Even the Entertainment Desktop set and the Presenter 8000 which use Bluetooth work with my laptop internal bluetooth without installing the MS IntelliPoint and/or IntelliType Pro software. But in order to use the special buttons, these software have to be installed.
