Hi all,
I've read extensively on the various cooler topic in this forum and they seem to point to NZXT Cyro LX as the strongest cooler.
However that model of cooler has been out for a few years.
I was wondering if there is anything else that has top it?
Thanks you!

CoolerMaster SF-19. I'm going for the USB 3.0 version, but you can buy the USB 2.0 version if you want.
Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER SF-19 Strike Force Notebook Cooler Model SGA-6000-KKYF1
A little bit of digging around might yield you lower prices.

DIY = Strongest
Also that CM SF-19 has a ton of failures on the customer reviews - Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER SF-19 Strike Force Notebook Cooler Model SGA-6000-KKYF1
So be careful if you actually want that thing. -

Oh come on! I had my heart set on that one....It's back to the drawing board for me then...*sigh*
edit: The SF-19 has 3 "failures" (3 1-egg reviews) and the NZXT Cryo LX has 2 "failures"....not that big of a difference. Also, Silario, if by "out" you mean "not available", you can still find the NZXT available on newegg.

If you were willing to spend that much check out the Cryo
The most popular one is the Zalman NC1000 & NC2000 very well built, nice and quiet but not the highest performance in terms of air moved.
Any laptop should be functioning 100% fine and in good temps without a cooler though if its working properly, and in my experience even the light airflow from the NC1000 was more than enough to drop temps quite a bit given the laptop likes to accept cooling air from the bottom vents.
I used the NC1000 just more or less as a stand to tilt the laptop for comfort not because I needed cooling.
Now I just use a pair of coolballs instead since its 1/100th of the weight and 1/50th of the cost -
I do game for long hours (8 hrs+) on my laptop on some days so I wanted to invest in a strong cooling pad.
The Zalamn NC2000 does look amazing.
I'm using Coolmaster Notepal X2 currently. Would Zalman NC2000 improve my heat issues singnificantly compared to X2?
Thank you for all the input guys! -

1) The Zalman's fans are oriented to the front of the laptop, when my grilles are located at the back....so that would mean either the LX or the SF-19.
2) No offense, but those coolballs look =ugly=

As for the fan location of the ZM1000 & ZM2000 not a problem at all since it does not have air holes only where the fan is its designed to blow air over the entire surface of the laptop, and you can even further enhance this by focusing the air with a simple mod:

After doing more in depth research, Coolermaster SF-19 Striker is looking better by the minute.
Anyone else with this baby care to share the pros and cons please?
Greatly appreciate it! -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
dont own it but cons seem pretty easy to pick out.
Con:
> Big
> Heavy
> Expensive
Pro:
> Possibly Powerful
Also the tilt looks a bit too excessive to me, and it does not even look adjustable.
The only "pro" the power is a moot point when any working laptop wont even need a cooler. -
Every cooler in this category is big, heavy and expensive. However compared to a cryo the sf19 is much much lighter and lends itself more to being carried aroud.
If you really want a cooler i think this the best on the markwt without builfing one yourself.
I have one but i hardly use it as i find that propping up my laptops rear plus max fans are most of what i need. Although i havent directly compared it, i think prop plus max fans will gives me better cooling than using the cooler.

Size and weight don't really matter to me because I am keeping the cooler stationary on my desk.
If the need arises, I would carry my laptop around in the bag, sans cooler, and use the great cooling system inside of my NP8130 whenever I'm gaming on the go or whatever.
But if I were planning for portability for a cooler, oh I definitely would not buy either the SF-19 or the Cryo LX. I'm just looking for raw power in a stationary place. And for me, that's the SF-19. Also, Vicious, you forgot to add that one of the pros for the cooler is the USB 3.0 HubA big draw for me. Or how about that the fans are easily removeable?

Try the Super Mega Cooling Pad v2005. Without question the "strongest" cooler for notebooks available. Includes several fan-speed settings. No vertical adjustment, but plenty of horizontal adjustment available. Not very portable though.
Here's a live demo of it:

The C90S in that video also was featuring the trademark "Vicious Mod" a couple of weeks later. -

Here's an idea, Take a big Plastic bag, a VERY strong one, fill it with water (not too much) put it in the Freezer, and than, put the laptop on it! and HERE YOU GO, THE MOST COOLEST COOLING PAD FOR LAPTOP
(I'm serious)

ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Just put the laptop in the freezer, its better.
And while your waiting for it to cool is a good time to fill out your RMA paperwork. -
What would be the most powerful, but still somewhat portable cooler?

Sorry ksna....that's an oxymoron
Gun to my head, go for the Zalman NC2000

Newegg.com - Thermaltake Massive23 ST 23cm fan Notebook Cooler Model CLN0009
These are "semi" portable, and generally use a big 20+cm fan that will be quiet and move a lot of air. -
For a MBP 17"? Not necessarily portable, but not huge either. The NC2000 looks nice, will the fan placement in that be compatible with the Mac? Also how does the NC3000 compare to the NC2000? Which one is better?
-

MBPs have solid undersides if I'm not mistaken...if that's true, the cooling capabilities are very limited
Mr. Mysterious -
Yeah I think they do. I need one as a gift cause hers gets really hot and occasionally crashes in games. I did some searching, seems like some people find it okay. Perhaps I'll give it a try. Thanks for the suggestions.
-
Is it safe to make your cooler blow air into the fan vents?
-
I have the sf-19 and have no problems whatsoever. It is very powerful. I usually keep it on the lowest setting. It is also really light. Not heavy at all.
-
is there a cooler that is most recommended for actual lap use? my laptop spends most of its time parked on my lap and im starting to develop a burn mark on my midsection (lol) most of the coolers seem to be designed for desktop setting.
-
Hey peeps , what laptop cooler is the best if laptop exhaust is located at the back of laptop ??? Or it doesnt really matter where the exhaust is ?? Ideas would be appreciated peeps
Im using a Vaio SB16FG , was lookin at the CM Storm SF-19 Cooler , or the Zalmans.
They both seem to be good according to the previous posts. -
-
Alrighty , sf-19 is also much more good looking anyways . Thanks Typecast.
-
I have the sf-19, and I definitely advocate it unless you plan on going the DIY route. It moves a lot of air, and it quite light. Downside- it is huge and definitely not portable (at least it doesn't fit in my 17in backpack that fits my m17x)
-
-
-
Yeah I hope it doesnt blow off my little 13 inch laptop which weighs only 1.7kgs LMAO
-
If anyone is wondering about the SF-19 I own it.
It looks pretty and gets the job done. Unfortunately, it is LOUD on max. But who uses it on max anyway? If you leave it on about 3/4 of the way it's not that loud. -
*raises hand*
I use it on max -
Id still say a modded NZXT cryo is the strongest. I run 3 80CFM 120mm fans on mine connected directly to a molex connector in my desktop. Cant beat 3 120mm fans blowing at full blast.
But if you use the standard power config and fans there are better coolers out there IMHO that are much more portable to boot. -

You want extreme cooling? Here we go:
Liquid Nitro! Oh yeahhh
Mr. Mysterious -
Stick your laptop in this and run out all your cables
I have a Cooler Master u2 and have a small 5" fan sitting behind my laptop to blow air in. Laptop is always cool. Can't complain
Strongest Cooler available as of today
