I got new Logitech z2300 2.1 speakers for christmas. they work great when i connect them to my mp3 player but when i hook them up to my laptop the sub woofer doesn't work and there's no bass. I have a hp dv5t running vista 32 bit.
Thanks for any help,
Nick

So you hook it up the both ways from different sources(3.5mm) and the sub works with one and not with another? If thats the case then the source(sound card or mp3 player) isn't putting out the low frequencies which makes the sub make sound.

Yea, it works with my mp3 player but not the laptop. But when i first used it Christmas day the sub worked fine on the computer but now there's nothing. Is there any settings on vista that have to be changed to make it work?

Maybe it's just your physical connection. While playing a song through your lappy wiggle the connection in and out gently. See if that makes any difference.

If it's your music player, than your equalizer settings may have changed. Try checking those. -
I've tried using windows media player, zune software and itunes, but none seem to work. I'm not sure about games

My money is on that he did not push it into the laptop all the way. Push harder and see if it sinks in 1 more notch.
That or the connection itself is broken inside. -
In either of those situations the sub should still work. It doesn't have another connector for the subwoofer, it just takes the signal off of the other speakers.

check in your sound settings enhancements are disabled. IDT comes as default with a high pass filter enabled. do this:
go to Control Panel\Hardware and Sound.
click sound.
click speakers and dual headphones, then properties.
go to the enhancements tab. disable all enhancements.
try that. -
Thanks Roosta!
That did it there working great now
Thanks again,
Nick
