Alright I just recently purchased a HP HDX 18t 18" notebook. I also ordered HP's roller case.
The problem is the roller case is massive (well in terms of it being an every day backpack). Now don't get me wrong it is a nice roller case/ backpack for traveling. It has this in the description but I took the chance to buy it to check it out and return it if I did not like. Problem was there was only two images of it anywhere I looked.
Anyways my question is this. Are there any backpacks for notebooks that can fit a 18.4" snugly? I am not sure if any 17" backpack would fit it but the next step up is 20" which turns out to be luggage. So anyone know for certain what I should look into?

here is what my friend uses for his 18.4 inch http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/adet.to?seg=HHO&poid=408066
I use this bag for my 17inch sager, but not sure if it can fit a 18.4. the website list the dimensions so you want to check it out http://www.slappa.com/velocity-spyder-laptop-backpack?sc=2&category=656 -
people carry those around? holy sh!t lol...
I wish I could point you in the right direction but am just amazed you can tote that around =) -
I use booq bags, and they have at least three models which hold my Gateway P-6860FX. They should hve something that will have you covered. You may want to call first; the stuff is expensive, just so you know.

Which model backpack do you have? I would like to hear more about this line of packs.
Appreciate the replies. -
Use the roller before you injure yourself. BTW no need to spend all that money. Costco has fine rollers for <$60.

Desktop replacements are nothing compared to some of the things people carry around with them daily. Just think about the many myriad professions and you'll understand what I mean. I've seen musicians carry around instrument cases large enough to hold ten HDXs.
In fact, just today I saw a little girl 5'6 with her tuba (I kid you not) although she wasn't actually carrying it, I think you get the point.
By the way OP, the Tangus XL will hold your laptop with ease, but it goes without saying, it's a big bag.
p.s. I think maybe we desktop replacement (DR) owners need to start including bag in our sig? -
rope tied tightly on both ends

I have a Targus Black 17" Groove Backpack and it works with my HDX 18 well enough; the upper corners tend to rub against the inside of the bag though (but its mostly soft). Used it to carry around my laptop, a book or 2, and a few accessories without issues for half a year (other than my back hurting a few days here and there from the maybe 15 pounds total?)
Depending on where you find it, it can be as cheap as 30. (Old thread is old) -

Exactly what does a "kitchen sink" include? Mouse, flash drive, a random assortment of cables, travel surge protector? What else do you need? -
In any event, suffice it to say, I'm pretty well covered no matter what circumstance come my way. Incidentally, I'm also a budding photographer/videographer, so I have quite the rig when I have to be prepared.
I knew it was a mistake getting a bag that big. Now I feel like Quasimodo when I leave my house. -

18'' laptop? Then I highly suggest one of these.
They can hold up to 50 kilos and have a nice size for 18'' laptops, you will never need more than this.
Or you could attach some ropes and it would look like this:
