Anyone have any suggestions for any mice with 5 programmable buttons? I don't really care about DPI cause the mouse I have right now is pretty sufficient already (15 dollar Logitech Lx1), but I need a new one for my laptop.

    Under 30 $ please.

You might be able to find a trusty old mx518 for that price.

    Not quite under, but close...

The Logitech MX518: Newegg.com - Logitech MX 518 8 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB Wired Optical 1800 dpi Gaming Mouse

It's pretty old, but it's definitely a classic low-budget gaming mouse. Definitely worth its price. You can find them slightly cheaper on eBay.

There's also my personal favorite, the original 1,800 DPI Razer DeathAdder. eBay is pretty much your only option for this one...but at Amazon, if you can afford a bit more, the new 3,500 DPI version is $45 brand new.

These both have 5 programmable buttons.

Unfortunately, it's hard to find what you want within your budget. For strictly under $30, you can only find 3-button gaming mice (like the Razer Salmosa), while the 5-button ones tend to be over $40.

I second the MX518. Best dang mouse you can buy IMHO. It's only optical, but its comfortable, reliable, and full featured. 85% of 3000 users gave it 5 star rating, and another 9% 4 stars. You just can't beat it.

"Only" optical? I'd take that over laser any day. :)

OP's getting a Microsoft X5, and I say good on you, mate. It's a fantastic mouse. Would be perfect if it were just an inch or bigger on each side.
