Read the article it has a special paper with dye crystals, no ink required, actually if you think about it their old instant cameras didn't, use ink either, but this paper is much more advanced. it's supposed to ship 2nd Quarter so this isn't a not happening prototype. :wideeyed:

And that special paper will cost you?...
Polaroid almost went bankrupt a few years ago, and they still seem to be on the same "right track" ;).

I guess it's only cost effective if you print pictures, because any other usage would be a waste of the paper.

It would be cool if they made a black/white one for standard size paper (8.5 x 11" here in USA - or A4 in Europe). So many times while I can take my laptop or PDA to do stuff, I frequently have need for a printer. It would be really cool to have a portable printer like that. I'm assuming black/white paper would be a lot easier and cheaper to make, but maybe not.

Well I like it because of its size about the same as a Blackberry and it's rechargeable, so it's truly portable. The video indicates they will make larger models too, and also the technology could be built right into a cellphone.

If they made a bigger one I would think about it. A 4x6 would be useful, but one that could print up to a full size paper would be great. I would love to have a usable photo printer where I didn't have to buy ink and special paper - just some paper that does it all.
