I'm looking for something to replace my Klipsch 2.1 speakers.
Needs to be surround sound (5.1 and up). Priority on good trebles and mid-range over bass (although bass needs to be good too of course)--this means something better than the Z-5500. Primarily looking to watch videos and music, with some moderate gaming.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

my suggestion would be to buy a receiver and then purchase some speakers to go with it. This is the best solution although usually the most expensive also

im leaning towards a klipsch 5.1 system..i think klipsch is the king of computer speakers

Free reciever ($300 value) right now.
I use Klipsch Quintet III's and a Synergy 10 subwoofer on my Optimus amp. -
Hm...how meaningful is THX certification?
-
from what i read somewhere from audiophiles, not very meaningful
-
That's right. If the Logitech Z-2300 can get THX certification, then certainly don't rely on the title implying that it's better than other speakers.
Personally, I'd go for the receiver and separate speakers and sub. -
Its deals like this that make me hate the fact that Im a broke ...
Anyone want a Asus W90vp-X2 for $600???

You're correct. When you begin to see the label spread that thinly then it become virtually meaningless. The best you can get out of it would be to say they're better then the ones without it.
Still, as far as I'm concerned, if you're not referring to an audio quality system, then the term is not worth much.True, but the smaller size goes to satisfy portability, space, and cost. Those things notwithstanding, I would agree with you. In fact, when I'm not on the go, I just hook my laptop into my home stereo system.
