I was wondering if 5.1 speakers are compatible with laptops without the special sound card. I saw a 5.1 set at best buy and was curious to see how they were connected to the tower. I pulled it out and saw their was only one green cord. Well anyways would this be compatible with my notebook since theres only one green cord? If I remember correctly they were logitech
    Thanks,
    Mike

One green cord only takes 2 audio channels, for 2.1 or stereo speakers/headphones.

For 5.1, you need an S/PDIF Digital sound output which is not avaliable on all sound cards. (Coaxial Port on Image)

Have you got a Dell e1705. IF you have, the S/PDIF may branch off the S-Video port using an adapter.
