Would you say that a red backpack, such as the Swiss Gear Austin, is primarily geared towards women? Or can guys carry it, too? I know it's a strange question, but it's kind of a cool backpack, and I just wanted some opinions.

I know I shouldn't care what people think, :) but my mom has somehow instilled this attitude in me that red is primarily for females. Last year, I bought two down jackets, one blue and one red, on sale, for a series of business trips I had to do to wintery Chicago...my mom said that the red one, THOUGH PURCHASED in the MEN's DEPARTMENT, is not a "guy's color."

LOL...Just a yes or no question. Is this backpack primarily geared towards women?

Dell has it on sale through my Employee Purchase Program for 42.99 (not that I need another backpack..but they come in handy for travel, and when I have to move. :))

Hey, I'm a girl, and I'd say this one..I would rather see a guy have!!!

Personally, I carry my lappy in a really sweet girly retro Messenger Bag..and I am still waiting on my Synergy by Swiss Gear to arrive.

I have an old Targus backpack..but it's all black in color, so it could go both ways...either for a girl or guy! ;) :)

Does that help!!! ha ha lol

    Cin ;) :)

Yes, Cin! I was hoping you would pop in. Your opinion means a lot to me. :)

When I was in elementary school, I used to carry my books in a basic army green backpack I got from the local army-navy store. It was basic, and UGLY...It was so ugly, it would probably be considered stylish today!

idk whats going on inside ur mom's head, but that bag isn't geared towards anyone other than laptop owners. All colors other then pink and baby blue are mostly gender neutral.

leave gender biases enough alone and get whatever works well. function over fashion.

You're right. :) My mom is first generation American born in a family that came from Greece and never really adopted the American ways. VERY traditional views, even though broke the mold for the family in a lot of ways.

I'm the tough muscleboy with fashion sense, so, of course, I confuse my mom greatly, and she can't help but impose (or try) her own traditional viewpoints.

Normally, I don't care. Just a thought that came to my mind, because this bag caught my eye at Circuit City today as I was picking up my sweet deal....Logitech Audiohub USB notebook speakers for $29.99 (50 bucks off).
