Hey..
I have heard great reviews about this backpack. I am planning to buy it too.. but I have a small concern.
The laptop that I have is a 15.6" ..its an ASUS G51 with a dimension of 14.8L X 10.4W X 1.6H inches. Its a bit bigger than other normal 15.6" laptops. And specs of SwissGear SYNERGY says it is good enough to hold a normal 15.4" laptops. So I am a little confused whether I should go for this bag or search some other.
Can anybody help me out...

Hey!
I have a Dell XPS 1530 and I use my Synergy Backpack alot. And, that backpack is pretty generous. I tow it with both my 9 cell and 6 cell battery. And, with books, magazines..whatever I feel like..and I still have a lot of room.
I have pictures I can show you with it packed to the brim, if you want!
I'm not sure on the tightness or generosity for a 15.6" lappy, and I'm sure someone will followup on that..but I would hope that with all the extra room, it would be able to pack a 15.6" fairly well.
Hope that helps!

i cant say how it fits a 15.6" laptop but my 14.1" laptop with the 9 cell battery fits fine with a good amount of wiggle room. There's not that much space in terms of how deep the laptop is, but there is a large margin for thickness.

Best option would be if possible, go to nearest best buy and try it out your self. I use it with my tablet and dell machine but none of them are even 15" so can't really tell how much room you would have. I used to have old HP dv6500 with 12 cell battery and that was fine if that helps.

If it can't fit it in the notebook sleeve part I am pretty sure you can fit somewhere in the bag. I just bought a laptop of a similar size and am waiting to see where it would be best to place the notebook in my bag as soon as it arrives.

In terms of everything other than thickness of the laptop, the laptop compartment will fit the largest laptop.
Oh and I just remembered, I can fit my gf's 14.3in x 10.6 x 1.5 laptop into the laptop compartment with a bit of extra space. The lacking dimension is mainly the width(height of the backpack). -
thanks alot for the reply guys...
But still i dont think nybody is sure if it wil fit or not. As per N4n45h1 it looks like it just might fit in.
But I am really looking forward to hear from pollcollingwood and XenoPhoenix... I will be checking this post regularly!!! -
Hey spider, I actually signed up to answer your question. I've been lurking for a while.
So, regarding the Swiss Gear - Synergy backpack and your Asus g51, let me give it a shot.
I just purchased my Asus g60vx at BB (hat tip Howard911 and the rest of the people that helped me with the decision). I had the same question regarding a larger screen (same as the g51?), so I checked it out at BB and the laptop fit (barely) into the laptop sleeve and zipped without harming the finish. That said, I have a 6 cell battery, so no telling with a thicker one, but it might work. I bought both the laptop and the synergy and haven't looked back since. Excellent buys.
Hopefully this will help you with your decision.

Side note - I will by flying tomorrow, and I have both my g60 and my work Dell latitude 630 in the bag, along with school books and some other odds and ends. Very Nice! -
I will give another update as soon as my laptop comes, its an Alienware M15x, so roughly the same size. But I can assure you that the bag will last you for years if you get it.
I got an older Swiss Synenergy bag years ago, like 2005, stuffed an Asus w3va in it (this is was a 14 inch notebook about and inch thick) several college books, clothes, odds and ends, and it still holds up pretty well. only problems were self inflicted injuries to it, like using the headphone opening to hold screw drivers and cutting off the straps that go around your stomach. The bag outlasted the laptop, and it has been through a lot worse. -
Just got the alienware m15x, its a tight fit around the zipper in the dedicated laptop sleeve but it fits. though rather tightly.

I was gonna get one, actually I bought it, but I returned it because it was just too big for my skinny self.
It's a nice bag, tons of space, good quality, plenty of compartments and good protection. But it is quite big.
SwissGear SYNERGY owners... anybody??
