I just bought the PixelView PlayTV 400 USB, and the tv tuner worked ok with the software that came with it, but I dont get My TV or My Radio (btw the tv tuner has a fm radio tuner also) option in the Media Center menu! Is it possible to use my TV Tuner with MCE software instead of the software that came with the TV Tuner? I recently updated the drivers but I did not get a My TV or My Radio option!. If there is any way I can make the TV tuner work with MCE I would really appreciate ur help.

    thanx

that's not surprising to me. While I don't know specifics of the tuner you use, I can venture a guess that it doesn't support video in the standard VFW (Video For Windows) format.

If that's the case then I don't think you can use it with MCE. My USB tuner also doesn't work with MCE. It works only with the software that came with it.

I hope I'm wrong about your TV tuner. ;)

For MCE to use the device the drivers must be BDA compatible. Looking at the link you posted it doesnt look like the device supports it.

most of the tuners I saw in the stores r not VFW format or BDA compatible, so most of them r not compatible with MCE!

Then MCE is just useless! U can do all of the stuff of MCE in Windows...

Of course you can do all of the stuff MCE does in Windows or using other programs. MCE is just a convenient application to use. I think it was designed for Windows Media Center and WMC tuners.
