Does anyone have a TV Tuner for the 6809/11, via the PCMCIA port?

    I am looking into this:

I'm looking at getting a lifeview Flytv-duo cardbus soon, its basically the same as the AVerTV one except it does digital and analogue tv, and is world wide compatable.
There is one or two short user reviews on the flytv out there and so far so good (http://www.expansys.com.au/forumthread.asp?code=117162&thread=4). Its currently only shipping thru expansys here is Aust, and they are always way over priced, in NZ is selling for $150, while its AUD$240 on expansys, so I'll wait a few more weeks to see if more stores start shipping in here otherwise I will try and order it in from NZ.

Wow, I had no idea that there were PCMCIA tuner cards... That is awesome.

That's not a bad price either. ATI has that USB 2.0 TV Wonder for about $10 less, and that doesn't seem very portable. I guess a TV tuner doesn't need to be portable. I would only use it for the PVR functions.

That looks pretty cool, I've just never heard of the brand.

    Nice find.

Just got a Hauppauge WinTV PVR2 from Circuit City for $99.99 (after Rebate) and I think it is great. I selected this model because it has built in MPEG compression, allowing you to burn straight to disc if desired. Installation was a breeze and the picture is real clear. I considered a PCMCIA card, but none of them had built in compression. Besides, I'd rather have just a cable sticking out than 2" of card and a cable.

I've done a bit of research and haev found that the LifeView TV Walker Duo USB 2.0 version has built in hardware MPEG codec, whilst the Cardbus version does not. Is this true? If so, wouldnt the USB 2.0 version be better quality if we were to burn programs onto DVD or CD?

Yes, I belive you are right. They just cannot stuff all of that into a PCMCIA card....yet. It's a trade off. The card would allow you to be mobile watch tv, run video through and record at vcd quality. The Usb version will force you to be near walled A.c. power, But you will be able to get Mpeg 2(DVD) quality recordings and just better all around performance. You might want to get both to get the best of each.

However, even though the DUO CARDBUS does not have a built in mpec decoder, the MCE CARDBUS does. However, this card only supports analog tv.
