So I have been messing round with media center the last couple of days and a lot of the featrues are really cool such as the Online Spotlight part and it got me to thinking about watching TV on my laptop. I've been looking at the TV tuners but theirs tons of them. Also is there any way to hook them up to sattalite tv (Dish NetworkTV). Also I see that a few of the TV tuners say that they support MC but most don't. Will it intergrate right if it doen't say it is made for MC. Thanks.

Look at hauppauge tv tuners--I think there is a review on the site somewhere.

I'm going to move this to accessories--you'll probably get more of a response.

Yup...there is a review alright...mine. Check it out through the link in my signature.

FYI, the TV Tuner will only work with SDTV from your satellite connection unless your satellite uses ATSC encoding on the signal for HDTV. Most HDTV cards (including my unit) will only work with OTA (Over-the-air) HDTV or any other HDTV signal in ATSC. That being said, most cable operators do not use ATSC for their HDTV channels so it probably will not work.

Im confused. So If I were to do it with cable my sattalite provider would have to use ATSC encoding? What in the world is that. What about non HD stuff? Another question. How much could I expect 24 inch LCD screens to be in year or so.

EPEDEMIC, you're not alone, but from one novice to another, I just hooked up my Direct TV satellite coax from the reciever to my WinTV HVR950 and was able to view all my satellite stations....actually put in a coax splitter so I could switch between HDTV and Direct TC. It works just fine.

TV is different from games though. With TV, it just has to get the sound and video synced up, but with a game, it has to do that with almost literally no delay to the signal its getting. TV and games are very different when it comes to TV tuners, despite the first impression.

I guess I am a total noob at this stuff. Can anyone tell me what exactly I need to get to get stardard non-HD sattalite TV from DishTV. I would also like to be able to play a Wii on it eventualy so I would like some composite cable hook-ups. How do I get the DishTV coax cable? Would I need to get another receiver or could I just use a cable splitter and use it anywher? Also, to record TV would I need the DVR or will MC record shows? Thanks.
