I just bought a dell notebook with Windows Media Center and a tv tuner. I don't have cable tv so I tried a regular rabbit ear antenna as well as an "hdtv antenna" but neither seem to have a strong enough reception.

When I use these antennas directly with a tv, they work fine, but they don't work with the tv tuner on the notebook. Any advice?

Are you at least getting static on the computer screen - something that looks like no reception, or is the computer acting as if it isn't getting any signal from the Tuner itself (as apposed to getting signal from the tuner but hing no TV reception) [hope that makes sense]...

I got a tv tuner recently, and the first thing the software had me do after installation was "tune" it. It had to scan for channels and stuff. If you haven't done that, I bet all you'd get is static.
