Hey folks. Doesn't seem to matter what activity I'm partaking in, my TactX mouse randomly shuts off. This is accompanied by the sound Windows makes when you disconnect a USB peripheral. The mouse then comes back on by itself, but there's no accompanying sound. It will do this several times a minute, or rarely. Depends on the day. A Google search showed folks having this same issue with the TactX mouse, but none of those forums ever mention what they did to fix it. Thanks in advance.

The first thing I would check is battery. Have you tried replacing the battery? Second, I would try uninstalling the driver and re-installing the driver.

It's a wired mouse; no battery. IIRC, it's basically modded Logitech G9.

Are you having similar issues with any other USB devices plugged into that port? Did you try the mouse on different ports?

No, it's just this mouse, and it has these symptoms on any USB port on the laptop.

Have you tried it on a separate computer?

Yes, my wife has been using it on her laptop with no issues. I'm using her Logitech M305 with no problems. It's not the mouse, thankfully, because they are $100. Got to be some hardware/software conflict.

Sounds like your own USB ports may not be providing sufficient power or something. Do you have any other USB devices plugged in at the same time, and are you using a hub?

No hub and no other devices. I've tried a bunch of stuff and decided to just buy another mouse for the time being. Thanks for all the help guys. A reformat might be the only way to fix this, and I'm not willing to do one right now.
