    Hello!

I hope you all had a great Christmas!

Anyways I just received a Targus Notebook Chill Mat which is a cooling pad and plugs into a USB port on my laptop.

Thing is, everytime I boot Windows the "New Hardware" wizard pops up for a "USB Device". How can I stop this from happening? Its rather annoying.

    Thanks!

I agree with zx10guy I have 2 chill mats and have never seen this screen. I just plug mine in and turn it on ! The only problem I've had with mine is the usb cord and 1 fan on my oldest one (about 2 years old) does not work.

That's very strange indead......If you have the basic one then that shouldn't happen at all.
With the basic Chill Pad....the usb is ecentially a power cord that does the same thing as a nomal power cord that you plug into the wall......it simple allows electricity to travel from the usb port to the fans in the pad.
Perhaps you computer is set to run the new hardware utility evertime something is plugged into it......kind of like the record audio program pops up ever time I accidentally plug my speaker plug into the mic jack instead of the headphone jack.
I'm not sure how you would go about checking this sort of thing out...but perhaps someone else on the forum has some info on this matter....all I can recommend at this point is to wait for more replies and just bare with it until someone gives you a solution or you find one on your own.
Again I'm sorry I couldn't help you more, but I wish you the best of luck in finding an answer.

I have that too and it doesn't happen to me. Did you mess around in preferences?
