IMO there's nothing that Targus makes that I've been overly impressed with. Just my .02, but something worth considering.

I'm using the HD3 and liking it. It does a great job with my X775. The low and middle speeds are quiet with only the highest speeds making noise but masked somewhat by the Laptop fans when at max speeds. The flat(ter) profile is a big plus and the fan profiles were near perfect for the 17"- X775. This is the key to any cooler, the fans must match your vents..and don't expect miracles.

Pros: Good if the fans match. On low, for general use, does a good job keeping bottom of laptop, drives(2) and memory cool. The laptop drives are louder than the low speed fans. All dust and pet hair gets caught in cooler so I have to blow out the laptop less. At full speeds and game loads, I can keep the top temps down a couple of C..anything helps. 1 year warranty but Targus support not tested.

Cons: The retail price is stupid for a cheap non rebuildable cooler. @Sams, $32 for the HD3. Did I mention this is non re-buildable? If a fan stops.. call Targus? No pass-thru for USB which may be an issue for some. The stiff speed wheel is scary and directions are unmarked. I was not sure which way was on so a slide switch is needed. The aluminum top is bonded to plastic for stiffness but OK. Long term reliability with the Targus "Hydro-fans" unknown.
