I brought one to help with heat issue on my acer 5315-2713 Now I get white stuff on the bottom of my laptop where the hard drive is.

It wipes off but, still why is this happening? Also could this cause damage over the long run?

You cooling pad needs blue pills.

Seriously get rid of it. Whatever that liquid white stuff is (LMAO i dont even wanna know), it could have gone into the RAM vent and short circuited your notebook.

I have been using this for a week now and it is very effective with my MacBook Pro 15".

@X2P: What do you feel is bad about this particular Targus product? I couldn't find any mention of this one on your "Notebook Coolers: a Buyers' Guide" thread, although I have to admit I did not read through all 75+ pages. (You do mention the Targus product that has fans, but not this mat that uses "crystals" for cooling.) I'm curious to know if you did test this one, the Targus Heat Defense: http://www.target.com/Targus-Heat-Defense-Pad-AWE4501US/dp/B001DJGD6C

Overall Targus falls behind in build quality. There is a reason why the Thermaltake iXoft is more popular as a similar product.

Oh crap! I have one of these! Dammit, I'm getting rid of this immediately and getting me one of those Zalman NC1500's...

Jeez, if I had known this was a possibility, I would never have bought something like this...
